Just a thought, with all the flooding of the meadows and fields at the moment, if the cold gets to grips by the end of next week, ice skating could be on for parts of Cambs and Maybe Norfolk.

Go on the Met Office website, gust predictions would suggest up your way is going to see some of the strongest winds as the system deepens and pulls away into the north-sea. 60mph+ quite possible!

Thanks, Knightrider. The met' are predicting gusts of up to 57mph first thing tomorrow morning (6am-ish) in Norwich area. :)

You're ok if you are just field skating, 'cause there is only mud andgrass underneath lol! Fen skating is quite the past time in some parts of the area ;) lol

Ok I've just stuck my head out the front door. No rain falling and no wind. The slightest of breezes - the slightest, hanging basket not even moving, it was moving more earlier on infact.

Hard to believe that damaging gusts are forecasts, I guess I'll never know as I'll be warm in my bed :-)

Interestingly during this wet spell today. The temperature has remained consistent throughout, always around 8c.

just nipped out with the dog, wind is blowy but so far nothing exceptional right on the south coast (sea only 50m away). the wind is coming in from just south of east, which is not what I was expecting. Presumably it will pivot to through S and then SW later at which point the whole building will start to creak, sing, groan and flex as it has through the years.

Enjoy!

If it gets that bad it'll probably wake you up, or are you a deep sleeper? lol. Yes not much happening at the moment but "The calm before the storm!" as the old saying goes.

Seems about right to me! Winds really picking up as the system starts to clear away from southern parts. Awful conditions. Bring on the cold & sunny conditions, oh with some snowfall to and with the ECM could be sooner than some think :D

I included the whole of East Anglia in the red because the tail end of that low will have a nasty sting. Essex is in for a rough night!

Hello all.

Darn busy in here, must be some snow mentioned in the forecast.

For now, eyes are on tonight's and then Sunday into Monday's depressions.

Here's an analysis I've left on the CSE & SW England thread, which you can then extrapolate for our neck of the woods, should you choose to do so. good.gif

I think this used to be quite a common thing - skating on the Fens in particular. It sounds like one of the those very hardy British things, like ice climbing in the Lake Distrct or skiing in Scotland, or training for Everest 1952 in Snowdonia. If you do it please post some photos!

BEAUTIFUL NEWS!!!!!!! The wind is trying to pick up here now, still a south-easterly my guess 15mph gusting to about 25-30mph the rain has started getting heavier in the last few minutes, I can hear it rattling on my window now.
