carinthian now that is some snow, not the piddling amounts we have to put up with. It’s bad enough when wagon wheels and mars bars are affected by shrinkflation but these days it’s even snowfall.

Cut the grass on Sunday, cut it again today although with the blade set a notch lower and I’ve took as much off now as I did last time around. at least it looks more like a lawn and less like a upland meadow now but the sooner it dries out and growth slows down the easier it gets.

A lovely day although still a nagging cool feel to things. at least it’s dry though so probably worth cutting the grass before things no doubt deteriorate towards the weekend.

The first chink of daylight starting to appear when I got up at 4.45 this morning so even though the weather might still think it’s winter, summer is definitely on its way. just hope it doesn’t forget to bring its mates sunny, dry and warm with it.

Another poor days weather, rain never really that heavy but the wet periods were certainly longer than the dry bits in between and a raw feel to things just to rub it in even more. the decent couple of days over the weekend are a distant memory now and I’m glad I managed to get the grass cut as I doubt it will be dry enough over the next 5 days. We may have just been spoilt over the last few years with decent springs and even last year which was a bit iffy had its dry, sunny and warm periods but this one really takes crappyness to a whole new level. nowt we can do about it though and selfishly, at least it is a countrywide crappyness rather than us looking on enviously while the decent weather is hogging other parts.

A much better day and weekend than I was expecting, especially this far east. coolish under the cloud first thing today but once the sun got to work it felt warm and the sunshine has been just about constant since. still cool in the shade though but it was nice sat having a pint at the side of the canal at Sowerby Bridge when we went over the see daughter and family. probably back to the usual conditions tomorrow and not looking very good for the rest of the week but after the absolute dross over the winter months, it was nice to get a couple of decent, if not spectacular days coinciding with the weekend.

Cloudy start but it’s turned into a lovely sunny morning now and feels pleasantly warm. I haven’t seen the forecast today but it’s certainly better than I was expecting looking at what yesterdays was saying. grass cut and strimmed so off over the top and down Calderdale to see the little lad and family.

A dry day yesterday and a dry start this morning……..when will this dry spell ever end as already said, probably later today so a bit of a wait for the late sleepers to surface and then my morning will be making the most of it by cutting the grass and a bit of tidying up then possibly off over the border to see grandson and family. already 4 months old, does time fly.

Had Worse it’s been an half decent day being a Burnley fan although it’s a bit easier when your expectations are measured in games won rather than trophy’s won relegation still pretty well nailed on but a few points picked over the easy games of Man U away, Newcastle at home and Spurs away and my the next game on the Turf, the last one against Forest could be an interesting couple of hours. as for the weather, been in the sunshine at Cheshire Oaks for a good few hours but the cloud at home disappeared and since late afternoon it’s been lovely. As for tomorrow, forecast not as good but providing its dry it’ll do.

Thought I’d get up to see the sunshine before the expected cloud starts to block it out across this part of the region. it’s a lovely morning so far though with a good coating of frost on the usual prone surfaces.

Scuba steve just walked in the living room as the Granada regional weather was on and wish I’d have turned the other way. Apparently Saturday looks to be the best day with plenty of sunshine but then she put in the disclaimer that the more eastern parts will keep the cloud Sunday is supposed to be a more cloudy day so whether my cloud is more cloudy than Saturdays cloud I’ll have to wait and see either way it looks like west is best and east is least so maybe I can make the short walk over the hill from East Lancashire into West Yorkshire and bask in their wall to wall sunshine

No surprise that in a period where a dry spell is measured in hours, a dry sunny morning was spoilt by an afternoon of alternating brightness and heavy showers. even the dry days have ended up being wet and after several days of northerly’s which would usually give nothing but gin clear skies this far inland, we have ended up with deluge after deluge. I’m not going down the road of who is to blame for climate change and whether it’s even man made but if this is what global warming is going to give us then I need to find my receipt and see if I have been miss sold something. anyway I just about managed to cut a length of skirting board outside between showers so it could be worse.

Weather-history from memory the summer that followed wasn’t anything special though. I certainly remember a lot of local cricket matches being effected by rain with a few games being abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Jan you want to live up here, jumper and jacket can be essential wear in any month of the year as for todays weather, the rain arrived on time and certainly didn’t hold back once it started with it turning into a miserable and thoroughly wet afternoon. still not cleared through yet and I’m expecting the usual damp conditions to still be hanging around in the morning. at least it’ll keep the frost away though.

Don aye it’ wasn’t a bad one really. a few snowfalls but the main thing that set it apart from most winters was the gin coloured skies that came with it, maybe the lack of aircraft as the skies were similar to those during the spring of 2020. some of the best walking conditions I’ve seen though and with the winter lockdown meaning that there wasn’t a lot else to you, we made the most of it. the third picture is my local and what it didn’t show was a decent sized gazebo put up on the car park ready for the pubs opening that weekend. it completely collapsed under the weight of the snow as did a few others around these parts
