  1. Thanks in advance for all of your hard work here, Jackone. Doubtless the rollrcoaster will be as scary as ever :-)....
  2. Hey Jackone. Great to have you back for another month of neurotic weather watching in the run-up to Glastonbury. I'm really looking forward to the festival as usual, and the build-up wouldn't be complete for me without your blog. Thanks in adavance for all of your efforts. Bring it on!
  3. http://m.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/jun/24/glastonbury-festival-2013-weather-forecast-good Another mention in The Guardian for you, Jackone. Whilst they FINALLY seem to have accepted it's going to be a largely dry festival, they can't help but emphasise the "some rain possible" theme, and they finish the article on a cautionary note. Dry Glastonbury, dry Wimbledon. I guess the Sun Guardian headline writers are now pinning their hopes on Prince Harry getting lashed-up this weekend and doing something unspeakable. Me? I'll be lashed-up in a field. Meh....
  4. Cue another rant from me on the subject of the press' desire for a wet one! "Less muddy" infers that the site is currently wet, or will be wet at the start of the festival. The facts demonstrate neither to be true. Even if that were the case, the word "drier" would be better use of language. But that would sound too positive and would sell fewer papers, right?
  5. .. and the Guardian continues to be lazy and fickle in reporting the Glasto forecast, and also persists in manufacturing 'facts' as it disregards what's actually been said. It seems that the broadsheet press is almost as desperate for a muddy festival season as the tabloids.
  6. Such is the nature of the Glasto-goer's weather obsession! I'm not too worried either - as many others have already said, the site dries out very quickly. Sights now firmly set on the news for Wednesday onwards....
  7. Whilst the extent of my weather knowledge is my ability to look at the online BBC forecast, it does currently seem to be saying that the majority of tomorrow's rain is going to hit Devon and Cornwall, with Zomerzet getting away fairly lightly in comparison to earlier forecasts. I'm interested to see what Jackone's update says later...
  8. Hi all. After lurking in this forum for the last 3 Glastos I thought it time to post and to thank Jackone for his great work. Like a lot of other Glasto-goers I obsess about the weather in the run-up, and this thread is always my first stop. I agree with duggyfresh on the above - the site dries out very very quickly. Eavis & co maintain a strict policy in the weeks before of keeping foot and vehicle traffic away from the camping fields and other vulnerable areas as much as possible so as to minimise the 'churn'. The site drains very well, and a bit of sun and a stiff warm breeze (both of which look to be likely after the coming wet weekend) will work wonders. The real enemy is the combination of pre-saturated ground, further rain during the festival, and 135,000 pairs of feet - this was 2011's deadly cocktail. In terms of the state of the ground, bear in mind how dry it was in the weeks leading up to this recent unsettled spell (some of the earlier pics of the site show a lot of dry and deeply-cracked mud) - I think the site will take a lot of rain before it gets anywhere near being saturated. This is a huge contrast to 2011, where it had rained constantly for weeks before. So, a lot can still change but if the current forecast persists I think we're on for a nice one, irrespective of the rain over the next 4 or 5 days.
