  1. Kirkcaldy Weather The man that used to run it in the photo, atop Kenmore Hill Monday. Was a bit of snow about, but stayed wet lower down. Higher hills loaded, though obscured that day! (and a cracking walk ). And one of the works at Taymouth Castle Edit was replying to highland safaris webcam link..not sure how this new forum works quite yet..
  2. A tiny skiff of snow last night, and a heavier shower 5am ish I think left a few cm's of nice fluffy snaw. Balters and sticking around out of sun Not getting too excited for Friday or Saturday here, but inland and bit of height might be a different story! Back in to hibernation until sone clear potential for something that's not wet and wind
  3. Hi all, been stormy here but not too bad I'd say, and hopefully everyone has got through OK. We've been a bit wet too, but again I think sheltered from the worst. Seasonal average weather continues it seems. Some spread in the ensembles across the board further out. Still lots of potential in to Feb I feel something more wintry will crop up. Plenty sub -5 or even -10c 850s teasing. Sunny spells and 9c, though feeling much cooler in gusty winds.
  4. Not sure on the sea swells...Will leave to the more knowledgeable other than saying there are many factors bit one is sustained fetch and we have some protection...though NW does not. Beaufort scale helps contextualise I find for my simple mind how strong wind "feels" and the impact. Hopefully the experts see some better news Yiu can mess about on windy.com and look at various ootion for wind waves, swell etc.
  5. Great Post by @Kirkcaldy Weather as usual in the mod thread provides a nice summary of situation as well as look ahead...stormy, and future winter potential. On the latter, to me the models for early Feb now look like a cold spell could start to appear and a number ensembles across models have notable support. But maybe not... it doesn't look like much change today sadly to me. Force 11 or 12 in places. Expect some upgrades to warnings today. Large parts of central england only under yellow which seems odd, and areas such as forth Clyde maybe red? Hopefully no stingjet to the tail as it leaves, which in my experience for here can lead to nastiness here. Stay safe everyone
  6. Just catching up on models for the storm(s). Not liking the look of this at all. I hope for downgrades but looks grim country wide. Wednesday's looks potentially even worse. Surprised not red, I guess overnight a factor, or they are waiting on latest data.
  7. That's the Amber's for north now too. Was wondering as looked potential to be as bad. Grim, stay safe all. Stormy next week too
  8. Congratulations @Northern Strath fantastic times. Temps of 4C here, damp feel and milder temps have removed much of the snow cover. Gusty too, but the snowshield frustratiion here sometimes over last week has an upside as we have missed much of the rain looking at radar and forecast. Hope the thaw not causing issues elsewhere. Have a braw weekend I'm going take dugs a squelchy walk at golf coursecand see what like the drifting was.
  9. yuch - been a good one though. It was a shame not to see it a bit more widespread for everyone, but it was a fun hunt with some teasing at times potential, leading to a notable cold snap and what a collection of photos and reports in here and some amazing days - snow or no snow! On to the next one is the common consensus, and couldn't agree more.... Google decided to send me a memory of March last year which was a good reminder for me that we are barely half way through our winter! 20230307_063259.mp4 Happy Friday all
  10. Oh for goodness sake. Was about to post my end of cold snap conclusion and we have a wee mini streamer just hit. Temps -2c/-3dp and light snow falling. Hope I don't get banned for saying looking forward to snow melting and a change of weather types for a bit some cracking photos posted
  11. yeah, as doc says. I am heading in but giving it an hour or so to let things settle down a bit. Some side roads are a disaster.
  12. Wish I'd woken half an hour later...looks like we caught a heavy one. Temp -3c/-3c. Temps dropping away rapidly now.
  13. Up for a pee, can't get back to sleep. Looks like a few cms fallen. Checks radar...aaargh...are radars down? Edit- think it's overuse on my phone looks like caught a wee bit here but things not looking too exciting for the city and all fizzling out or missing. Looks like further inland done much better, and NW looks like still getting battered!! Looking forward to some updates in morning!
  14. Damnation as my dad would have said, someone unplug the snow shield. Plenty more shots though!
  15. you've stolen (nearly) all of it! Just started here now bit just a few flakes in the breeze. Nice to look at though and let's see what happens tonight! Forecasts sound promising, and the radar looks busy!
