Lol and so the snow hopes begin to rise again to most likely be shattered amongst wailing and gnashing of teeth!

The most impressive feature of Imogen is how rapidly the showers are moving, days like this make the NW Radar a must have for me.

The inner child in me can't help but over-imagine a snowy weekend to come. The synoptics are so close to delivering a widespread snowy outcome to our region, even better that it would fall on a weekend. Can't remember snow in the middle of February, in my memory it's more often been in the first and final thirds of the month.

It will probably end up correcting so far south that the Channel Islands get the pasting :wallbash:

Pretty windy but not really anything abnormal here, gusting in the 30's on my station, top gust today 40mph, and 41mph last night. However Exeter Airport reported 66mph earlier and again 58mph just now.

Did go up to a local hill at near 250m earlier though, must have been gusting 60+ at times.

Edit: edged up to 42mph now.

It's all starting to get going out there at the moment. Although it's not a classed as a proper storm until the Chicken shed roof blows off and I get sent outside to fix it.

No prizes for guessing what time last night's squall went through. That was really impressive. OH said there was a single lightning strike/massive thunder clap overhead, just after midnight, but I was sound asleep with a pillow on my head by then.

Some gusts around the low 60s in my neck of the woods now so slowly but surely I would think the strongest gusts are transferring Eastwards as expected. Will be a while until we have relative calm again though I would think.

Top gust as per my Davis 46mph at 13:52GMT. As I'm well sheltered, especially to the South, I usually have to add around 10mph to those figures which ties in nicely with official reports, locally.

I remember a decent cold, snowy spell mid-Feb in either 1992 or 1993 I think - I'm sure someone on here with a good weather history knowledge for our area will remember which one.

Also, wasn't mid-Feb 1995 a longer cold, snowy spell with a few ice days?

I remember a cracking fall on 14th February 94 and that was right on the coast in Dorset!

Could well be right. I was took young to remember unfortunately. I think my first memory of snow is Feb 1996.

That's an upgrade for me, but I feel it's off the mark & unlikely to happen. Dusting on the Mendips at best.

Not sure this storm here has been as persistent as was predicted.

Noticed the wind picked up around 11am and the strongest gusts were around 2:30pm, one of 58mph, a few just over 50mph, but most around 40-45mph.
Winds last hour have been 30-35mph with an occasional 45 mph gust.

A few fences I noticed are blowing badly and a lot of large chunks of polystyrene blowing about near my Morrisons.
The sea was rough too, but the ferries were crossing fine over the harbour. I enjoyed that trip, sat on the upper deck.
Been dry today though apart from the early morning rain and the mix of cloud and blue sky shows no rain here.

Yep, the signal for some snow falling for Dartmoor remains.  Just speaking to someone in the lodge next to me who went walking around Dartmoor today and they said the rain turned to sleet and wet snow before clearing earlier on today so pretty confident that any PPN tomorrow will be snow in Princetown.

Mullender will also accept that 12z output I think.
