Daily Express has a warning of 120 mph winds! This type of scaremongering should be a criminal offence.

Daily Express at it again..... I suppose around Franks core then winds may be gusting over 100mph but those wind speeds will not affect the UK.

gfs80.thumb.png.6b94b7b982ac6988451f37cc

Very strong winds brushing N Ireland and then NW Scotland & Islands and also SW Ireland on the 12z.

Frank just a 980mb leaf rustler just now. I really hope I see something over 70mph...

Same, but gfs was predicting 80mph gusts for our area days ago, now it's more like 60.

Frank looks a little further North than the Fax chart suggests, I don't know if it means anything though...

We can hope but it isn't looking good! Some areas could see a further 100mm or more of rain...

For us nothing to get worried about. Rainfall will end up above 100mm mark for the 2nd time this year. At one time used to be an rare event but seems to happen once twice at least these years.

Wind wrong direction.

I mentioned that small secondary depression last night, it's still there on the ECM 00z run and could ramp up the winds for a time over Ireland, N Wales and N England.

Well it looks like being the strongest event of the season so far here, though that more shows how all storms have gone north of here, than this being a particularly major storm. Still, a gale/severe gale with gusts to 60mph+ looks interesting especially on the coast considering the waves were coming over the promenade yesterday evening.

Met/BBC going for gusts of 59 mph inland at Ottery St Mary, 63mph in Sidmouth, so I'd probably class that in the stormy category, at least for here.

Funnily enough my weather station recorded it's highest gust of the Autumn yesterday evening at 41mph, which kind of shows how storms have missed so far.

Euro4 model showing gale force winds for many western areas later this evening with storm force winds in the far NW, around the core of Frank winds close to hurricane force, later on gales affecting E & NE areas.

Also picking up on the small low much like the ECM which tracks across Ireland towards NW England during Wednesday morning bringing gales or severe gales for a time.

e43.thumb.gif.86cf3c640d3fc744b38c29cbf0e42.thumb.gif.77fa3e1afc5ba6b3bbe5dfb294

ARPEGE showing very strong wind gusts across Ireland later then into the far W/NW of Scotland, winds howling through the Irish Sea but not as strong as further north.

ap1.thumb.png.3ae82db5912855b2f2ae36c8eaap2.thumb.png.adc15af5756efaec575be29ce1

And is also picking up on the small low running NE across Ireland, it could certainly pack a punch if it comes off... Is that 150km/h gusts into SW Ireland?

Rainfall accumulation for the next 36hrs showing a possible 100-150mm in places as indicated by the pink & red shading.

Indeed Jello serious surface water last night and no warnings for it either, you would wonder what Frank will bring

Very pronounced eye to Frank, central pressure of 956mb. Also includes a sting jet according to Nick Miller, just imagine what winds we would be experiencing if that came across the UK...
