Not overly windy here yet with gusts into the mid 40's, down the coast at St Bees Head weather station gusts barely 50mph atm, stronger winds are forecast tomorrow afternoon as the secondary feature moves in from the south west with the ''squeeze'' as the Met put it! Lol..... The rain has begun with some red and pinks on the rainfall radar over the fells, also been pouring down over Western Scotland for some time now.

Wind is getting strong now but nothing too alarming at the mo. Does have the 'feel' though that things are going to get bad into tonight and tomorrow. That low growl in the trees, the backing of the wind and the warmth of the air usually portends ill winds....

Wind starting to pick up here in Essex, doesn't anyone think that the Met Office have been a little bit casual with not issuing warnings for southern parts?.. considering most of the forecast suggest gusts of at least the 40-50mph range seem probable!  Usually when winds of that strength have been forecast before they've put Yellow Warnings out. At least a small crumb of comfort is that it appears like it'll stay relatively dry here compared to up north where they're getting all that rain.

Probably around 40mph maybe a bit higher in places most likely north of London, 60-70mph+ possible further north & west for parts of Ireland, N Wales & N England.

59 mph is the highest gust here so far, at 2250. The mean speed at 350m is between 35 and 39 mph.

Constant gusty wind and rain at the moment ,remote weather sensor (cat) refuses to go out :0....

I have 3 of those and for the first time they're hiding behind the sofa tonight. They seem nervous. The wind died down for a couple of hours, but seems to be picking up again

I'm hearing via the internet that parts of the town of Hawick in the Borders are being evacuated by the police due to flooding or potential flooding:

Over 60 flood warnings in place across Scotland, but no severe flood warnings:

Very gusty this morning, around 55-60mph, strongest winds expected this afternoon and for the first part of the night with up to 70mph predicted according to the Met site along with a continuation of the persistent rain, hope no serious issues arise.

The number of flood warnings has increased but no severe yet.
