Really howling now, F8 mean speeds and gusts 60-65mph, Clodgah is deeper than expected with the Met increasing the potential gusts as mentioned above.

If you look at the northern extent of the gales into S Scotland, Prestwick G59mph and Drumalbin G69mph, the GFS has handled Clodagh wrong even right up to the event occurring - http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

GFS 6z gust chart for midday

The ARPEGE model wasn't far off with the current wind speeds and northern extent.

Wind really howling here, very gusty. Some impressive plumes of spray racing down Ullswater, I first thought some crazy man was having a bonfire, looks like big plumes of smoke.

Too far south here and not really effecting us. Hats off to the local forecast and nothing of note so far.

Dundrennan just hit 75mph, Surprised to see Keswick hit 64mph as it's quite sheltered inland, wouldn't like to be on the M6 as Shap recording 66mph  - http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Currently in Keswick area and it is no surprise if you are here very windy out with Derwent water to the south it is actually quite exposed to s west gales

Winds are currently westerly, must be funnelling through the valleys, you don't normally see Keswick getting gusts over 60mph. Max gust here near the coast 68mph.

Some big gusts out there seeing 93 mph reported. Funny how one can miss out on things. Max 48mph here.

I'd say the winds have eased here over the last hour, so perhaps the worst has passed already.

Wind's won't peak here until 6pm at least as the pressure-gradient is slightly lower than forecast by 10mb. Currently the highest of the winds are out over Wales and the Irish Sea.

Winds easing down now as the centre of Clodagh moves over the North Sea, a short but very lively spell of weather.

Winds will continue to ease down this afternoon, the worst is just about over.
