Latest shower- sleet and hail again. Quite heavy, so should have evaporative cooled to snow if it was cold enough- it obviously isn't. What's worse it's been completely cloudy since 11 ruining any chance of a frost.

Too breezy tonight for evaporative cooling, you need really still conditions.

It is snowing in the centre of Derby and a light covering of about a cm. Not bad for this area in November.

Took DWW's advice.. Set my alarm for 5:00.

Didn't need it with my bedroom facing North!!

The wind started howeeling at about 4:15  and since then fairly persistent sleet now more like snow has set in

The temp has dropped from 2.1C to 1.1C now and we have a blizzard starting up !!

Really horrible just now outside and it is settling on all surfaces. :D :D :D

The dewpoint guys is -2.0C

In the last 10mins the airtemp has dropped to 0.9C, but the dewpoint has risen to -1.9. withe much smaller though more blizzard like conditions,

I think any hills will be difficult by morning. I see people above are talking about a possible 4- 5 hours. Off to check the radar now.

Good luck all.

What a nice surprise to see snow falling, and even settling in some places. Just when it seemed like that mild sector could have foiled the snow's plan to invade Solihull. Plus other places.

Goes to show you can never rule anything out in these marginal situations. Hopefully the cold and snow fans in here who haven't seen the white stuff will get something soon. :)

Edit: Looks like it's turning into rain now. Looks like that milder sector could be really showing itself now. :/

(A nice surprise while it lasted, though).

Hi there back again.

W do look to have more snow to come, but it is getting lighter from the North East.

North York Moors and Lincolnshire Wolds are getting plastered!

Need some more moisture from the North Sea to reach here!!

The band seems to have fizzled out to the west. Previously RainToday was predicting snowfall for several hours to come but its all shifted east.

I don't think we had any snow here at any point during the night, if we did it must have been only a sprinkling and melted again. It's just damp outside with a howling gale. Temp currently 3.7oC, dewpoint -0.6.

So, much ado about nothing here (as I wasn't up at 5am when there was a little something apparently), but hey, it was an appetiser for the rest of the winter I suppose.

I think I'm going to start a crowdfunder page to buy a guest house in the Peak District, and all of us who have to watch the guys from there post on here about how much snow is lashing down will have somewhere to head to so we can join in the fun!

Wind appears to be further East than forecasted, and also much later. Snow isn't existent here.

We had a couple of cm's between 22:00 - 23:30 last night, not sure what, if anything fell after that until I got up at 07:00 but most of the ground cover has melted but it still makes everywhere a bit brighter. We've got lovely blue skies, a sharp nip in the air and no wind...as of yet!

A feeble attempt so far just a skittering which has melted overnight, ground temps are warm yet unsurprising.

Strong wind didn`t help either.

Woke up about 4:30 am and it was snowing heavily with big thick flakes which you could see without any light source. Despite this it refused to settle and the only sign of it now is a few dots on next doors car. Bit annoying but at least it's only late November so maybe next time. Any chance of some more over the weekend?
