Meteorology at Benson, Oxfordshire

As one of the Met Office’s longest established observatories, with a (discontinuous) record going back to 1915*, from sites within

about 1.5 km of one another, Benson must be regarded as one of the most important sites in the United Kingdom. Its local

weather peculiarities add to its usefulness as an observatory, encompassing many mesoscale effects due to its position and

surrounding topography. Long may it remain!
