I mentioned in the MO thread how the WeatherPro app keeps upgrading the temperatures in London for next week.

I thought it'd be good to keep a track of how accurately the various websites forecast the temperatures for next week's heatwave. After all, the layman will be looking at these sites more than the model outputs!

I'll post another update tonight.

Chelmsford

Metcheck - Wed 29C; Thu 27C; Fri 29C; Sat 27C

WeatherPro - Wed 30C; Thu 33C; Fri 32C; Sat 31C

BBC - Wed 28C; Thu 29C; Fri 27C; Sat 27C

Weatheronline - Wed 30C; Thu 32C; Fri 32C; Sat 31C

Google (weather.com) - Wed 30C; Thu 31C; Fri 32C; Sat 31C

And I may as well do the capital city too...

London

Metcheck - Wed 30C; Thu 26C; Fri 27C; Sat 26C

WeatherPro - Wed 32C; Thu 33C; Fri 33C; Sat 31C

BBC - Wed 33C; Thu 32C; Fri 30C; Sat 30C

Weatheronline - Wed 31C; Thu 32C; Fri 32C; Sat 31C

Google (weather.com) - Wed 34C; Thu 31C; Fri 32C; Sat 31C

Only problem is changing daily. A few days ago we had 34C close to us now down by 7c

Could next month join a selcct band of July days, 8 in the last 250 years, in which a daily mean CET tops 24C?

So far we have... 1808(x2) 1852, 1923, 1948, 1976(x2) and 2006.

The only other three occasions came during the first three days of August...once in 1990 and twice in 1995

I won't post all the figures this time as they're broadly similar, with the exception that Metcheck has woken up and is now going for some hotter temps.

The BBC is continuing to downplay things - max of 27/28C on Wed & Sat when others are showing >31C.

Why does the BBC so often undercook temps?!
