Part of the Bolitho estate near Penzance. Although quite small one of the best gardens in Cornwall stuffed full of plants, interesting trees and in particular ferns. In particular it has one of the finest stands of the Australian Soft tree Fern in the Northern hemisphere. Probably introduced in the late 19th century. It also has links to Cornwall's mining heritage as it's thought mining was carried out here during the Roman occupation. A few snaps that don't do it justice by a long chalk.

Just in case anyone is wondering the tree is a Dawn Redwood which until 1941 was only known from fossil records and was thought extinct. And then sensational news as botanists found a living population in China. This tree was one of the first to be planted in Britain and probably dates from the late 1940s to early 1950s. Not a lot of people know that.
