It's funny to see people's expectations really high for July this year but in 2013, people were predicting CET values as low as 13-14C! Nobody saw how good that month would turn out at the time.

I wonder if the reverse will happen this year too? Hopefully not!

Happens a lot. May of this year being a good example. March 2013 was crazy, no one even got close.

Well with first summer heat on it's way not much to say so I'm going for. 17.5c thanks.

Actually there were several close forecasts in July 2013, check the thread. It wasn't only Craig Evans who went higher IIRC. And there was a nasty downward correction involved too.

For this month I am going to say 17.9 and hope that there's a second warm spell beyond mid-month otherwise it may be falling back below 17 by the looks of the mid-month charts. No doubt the value will be close to 20 for about the first week then start dropping rather steadily. Would not be surprised if there's another heat wave right at the end of the month to match this coming spell. Flow looks wrong to me for anything to rival 2006.

Very warm, just beating last year. A hot first half and more Atlantic-dominated second half.

The 00z GFS has the 1st as averaging about 23.5C, (min 16.5C, max 30.5C), which would break the daily record quite easily (22.9C). Now to see if the 06z maintains this...

The 06z GFS would have the CET at:

23.5C to the 1st (23.5)
21.3C to the 2nd (19.1)
21.1C to the 3rd (20.8]
21.6C to the 4th (23.1)
20.7C to the 5th (17.1)
20.1C to the 6th (16.9)
19.8C to the 7th (18.5)
19.6C to the 8th (17.9)
19.6C to the 9th (19.7)

19.6C to the 9th would give us the warmest first 9 days of July since 1976.

I might need to increase my guess before midnight!
