Nothing here yet also Rob, Plenty of time yet to catch them..  :fool:

From Germany last night..

NOCTILUCENT CLOUDS VS. STREET LIGHTS: Last night, a bright display of noctilucent clouds (NLCs) appeared in the night sky over Germany. "I saw the noctilucent clouds in the car while driving through the town of Greifswald around midnight," reports Markus Blaurock. "They were easily visible despite street lights."

Blaurock's photo, above, shows that noctilucent clouds can be seen even in light polluted cities. This means that everyone should be alert for them. http://spaceweather.com/

I saw them last night while on nightshift. It is easy for us to spot them at work , My Plant is orientated North to South. So when I came outside in the early hours and looked North they were very apparently noctilucent.

The first time I saw them i thought it was dawn breaking. Then it occured to me that dawn doesn't break in the North.

Nightshifts can be very hard to get used to but seeing things most people never get to see is great.

If I remember correctly it was around 02:00 ish.

The best thing I have ever seen on nights has to have been an all night meteor shower. It was 1998 I think. Once I saw one I went to a high point to look for them and they kept on coming. there was that many that I went back inside and put the plant cctv cameras pointing in their direction to save me from freezing outside.

As I said, nights can be hard but seeing sights like that is fantastic.

Also seeing sunrise in midsummer is nice as well.

Something to the N and NW now. Very eerie blue glow with a sharp edge, not fading gradually like the lingering twilight does. No waves or ripples clearly visible, looks more like a sheet.

A little to cloudy on the horizon to make them out properly here, But as you say Rob they were evident last night.

Yes, ive investigated my camera and found the settings thatll achieve that. Normally it just takes great pics with no tinkering. Its a lumix, chosen for its macro facility (for photographing metal detecting finds, them medieval coins are small)

looked very much like the ones i saw, pattern wise.

i chose drink last night instead of cloud spotting, i need to travel to find a decent observation point as my house isnt favouably placed for northern observations.

its frustrating, especially when the season is so short, we must only have 2-3 weeks left to view them from here and with cloudy nights viewing them on clear ones has a sense of urgency.
