Finally the moaning from Shropshire can cease! Told you that you would get something!

We were so busy watching what their storm was going to do we nearly missed the little one that developed on top of us. It's now moved off and looks like it's currently providing extra entertainment at the V Festival!

Wondering if that next area of rain moving in can develop for us judging by what just happened?

How isn't this rain convective?! The conditions are so favourable for thunderstorms, yet all we get is TOSH!

Actually it will be convective, just after its passed the Midlands.

Yep, best since 19th June 2005, in fact for the frequency of thunder and lightning it beat that one. One of the 4 or 5 best I've seen here. Just hope it isn't another 10 years till the next one!

Great to hear that S95.

Really enjoyed that, lightning was epic just like a stobe light! Thunder just seemed to rumble and rumble with louder booms every few seconds. Clothes are soaked waterproof coat.... not up to the job lol! On the down side my 2 year old was scared stiff watching from the porch with mummy and she had to take him upstairs (1st time he has seen a thunderstorm!)

A friend from the same town as me took this photo and would like to know what it is. I did say it was a shelf cloud, but I'm not sure.

Quite confident that is it now. Not bad but still really can't see anything more than moderate rain tonight.
