Perfect clear conditions tonight, With a lovely big bright Moon to it should be a good sight.

Yep, our lunar friend is up there. Since I am attempting a time-lapse of it tonight, this is the first of probably several hundred, to several thousand photos I'll take tonight... :)

Brilliant clear skies I'm going to struggle for sleep - the moon is very bright against a backdrop of black. Superb visibility couldn't ask for more.

Huge moon rising this evening. Like another poster I don't like all this hazy muck that has been appearing since late afternoon (not forecast), but hopefully it won't interfere too much.

It's bit hazy here too. Hopefully it clears up in the next couple of hours...

Clearer skies are moving in from the northwest now.

Decided to stay up all night :)

Me too, which is probably not a good idea when you have two lectures tomorrow, but oh well. :)

Seems like the inconsiderate **** upstairs is having one of her obnoxiously loud 3 hour phonecalls so I guess I'm staying up!

The hazy high-cloud has finally cleared here, so I can now clearly see the Moon. It's extremely bright tonight.

There's also only one hour to go until the penumbral eclipse begins, now...

Just took a pic of the moon through my telescope with a point and shoot before it starts! :-)

I can't see the moon :( it is directly over my house, I would need to go out and stand in the front garden of the house opposite, to be able to view it  They would probably call the police if they saw me loitering in their front garden at this time. :bomb:  :ninja:

It's pretty much 01:12 - the start of the penumbral lunar eclipse. Look out for a very gradual and subtle dimming of the Moon as it enters the Earth's penumbra. Not long until the blood moon appears now!

It's usually not until near the end of the penumbral stage when the moon will be noticeably dimmer.

I'm just starting to notice that any moonlight off windows is now starting to slowly get dimmer.

Is it me or is the top left hand corner of the Moon starting look ever so slightly darker than the rest of it?

indeed it is, should be the first solid shadow of the disc appearing imminent.

I think it's early. I did notice that a few minutes ago.
