Lincolnshire of course Great Plains of United Kingdom. :)

My mum's birth town recieved a dirct hit! Bourne, Lincolnshire

Despite little surface heating you can still get impressive storms/squalls at this time of year.

Not far east of Norwich here, and we did indeed get hammered. At least ten CG's, and an intense squall. For a while I thought the fence was going to come down. Norwich airport reported a gust of 58 mph.

First day of thunder so far this year! What an intense squall line this is!!

Same here - a few rumbles and a couple of bright flashes while the Grand Prix re-run was on.

Nice to see!! Diurnal heating season is now beginning at long last!

Meanwhile, Western Europe's storm capital (NW Germany/Holland/Benelux) is getting a pasting, just for a change! Whats the betting they'll be seeing some absolute stonkers this season coming!

You would have loved it up here last year, Gordon! Manchester is turning into a no-man's land for thunder nowadays.

Anyway, I had some pretty heavy, squally showers here today, but none of them thundery, unfortunately. Today was certainly a sign that the convective season is starting to kick into gear again, though.

Is this some kind of masochism or therapy? I don't get the logic of someone who doesn't like thundery weather posting in such threads.

It's like someone who hates heights but turns up at bungee jumping events to express they don't like heights?!

Hope coming in here and discussing the convective output helps with your fears mate. As ever, its interesting having peoples different views and inputs into the thread.

After my first bit of action today, lets hope for more to come as the convective season gets underway (but for it to bypass Gordon!).

Where would the fun be if everyone who came in here all liked storms

would a non football fan avoid the sports pages in case he/she saw a football story ?

There have been some pretty nice cloudscapes today with some very heavy, squally showers. I even think I heard a bit of thunder before, but I'm not 100% sure.

So, here we are staring into the barrel of summer in the UK  :D

Wondering what potential thundery joys this summer season will bring - so thought I'd try setting up this little old thread for any speculations, glimmers of hope or downright certainties for plume events which crop up over the coming months.

I have found my trusty camera chargers, and dusting off my windowsill in anticipation of some exciting imported storms to come!  :yahoo:

storms. storms storms. They tend to form over my area, then go on to develop some where else. Had a nice surprise storm early one morning, but hoping this year is a bit better.

last year we only got 2 storms,  and one weak thundery shower, all up to and including july,  after that zilch, right up to today

so, are they any signs of a plume in the models, doesn't look much yet,
