Furher snow fell in other areas of Saudi January 10, 2015: Tsaqta saw heavy snowfall, and this snow was welcomed by the inhabitants of the region, who were exited to enjoy the view of snow falling on the sand dunes and mountains. The way citizens have chosen as they greet the snow sometimes can be a strange, but it is not without wit.http://mz-mz.net/412413/

We have become more accustomed to rapid polar plunges bringing 'freak' snowfalls to med./tropical regions but what happens when the polar jet runs into the Sub tropical jet?

 

Does the tropical air rush north as fast as the Polar air rushes south? And what happens along the contact zone of polar/tropical? I feel a 'Watch this space' moment coming on.......

That looks like a heavy accumulation of small hail rather than snow

I did think the same but the earlier stuff is mostly snow. Still exciting to get hail or even rain where I am. We had a few drops this afternoon and people go crazy
