Forum downtime today

Apologies for the downtime on the forum today, there was a fairly major failure on one of our load balancers which has yet to be sorted, so we've moved to a new load balancer with a new ip address.

This means that in some cases it can take up to 24 hours for the the new ip address to update across the net, so if you're here already welcome - it'll be a fairly gradual process until everyone is over!

Thanks Paul

I managed to get back after tracking an active IP and used that, I have it as 5.79.36.37 which seems to be working (albeit slowly).

That's the old one you're still on currently - you should update to the new one (which is running a lot better) soon.

just got back Paul, no idea which one I am on, maybe you can trace it and that may help you sort things?

Thanks John, although It's just a case of waiting for the various ISP's to update their records now - all should be over within 24 hours. Those hitting the old one may well find it's slow and a bit up and down, once over to the new one it should run much better.

*Willing the DNS to update quicker*

Any chance of the new IP in the mean time?

You can try flushing it - if on windows follow these instructions to do it - won't be a guaranteed fix because it's also down to the DNS provider/ISP to have their end updated too, but worth a try:

done that (Linux box here) but my ISP is yet to pick up the change.

I think mine must be the old one then as it is noticeably slower than usual-not to worry-good luck getting everything sorted-stop you rushing out to spend money on Christmas presents!

I'd like a new Davis Pro please!

It'll settle down I think - it's those people who for whatever reason are still coming through to the old setup which are having the issues I believe.

Any idea why I can't access the forum using google chrome? When I tried to access this morning it told me the site was unsafe, when I clicked to proceed anyway I'm getting an error message saying "SSL Connection failed". The strange thing is I can access everything fine through internet explorer.

It sounds like chrome is caching the old server ip address, trying clearing your browser cache.

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply. I've cleared the cache and still no luck. I also disabled all anti-virus just in case but still no luck. Any other ideas?

It's just that somewhere in chrome it's caching to the old ip, it should clear - perhaps reboot or at the very least restart chrome. Beyond that it should sort itself soon enough as it's certainly not a widespread chrome problem.

Thanks Paul, computer re-start has sorted it.
