I would just like to ask the question when do we get our regional threads opened for the autumn/winter?

At the moment its more like half the Uk is in one thread and Ireland gets its own thread with a similar population to wales?

I liked how they were before. :nonono:

When it gets busy again as we approach winter, the regionals will be expanded again.

At the moment, we're getting through one page every couple of days. If we break up the regions at this point it would make discussion practically non-existent.

To some extent I understand that although the west country thread was rarely a quiet thread before and less of us post in the broader threads as it is less regional and banter friendly.

look forward to its return though, any chance of it happening for November as winter season will be rapidly encroaching or will it be the first snow event?

It will be as soon as there is demand for it really, which will most likely be the first cold spell of interest.

Lets all hope that's not going to be 2015/16 winter :unknw:

Well, it can't be any worse than last winter :D

Ultimately the decision isn't down to me alone, we'll see what the admin team think :)

I've quite enjoyed having a wider regional thread, it's nice to speak with people you perhaps wouldn't have come across otherwise. I also enjoy it when the regionals get more specific as it gives you a better idea of what is happening in your vicinity. I like it both ways.

How they are now is fine!

To be honest your thread, the southeast and east Anglia regional  never changed anyway its the other regions like midlands, west country, wales and north England that lost their identities.

I just miss the west country banter that we have with our own thread, in winter its all about cider and snow but as the least snowy part of UK we often end up talking about other stuff..

Yes I have been much less inclined to post in the 'half of England and Wales' thread than I am in the regional one.

In fairness, there's not many posts to "trawl through". There have been 6 posts today in your current regional thread!

What Mullender  Knight rider said.

I don't tend to go in the new thread, no offence to the others but I loved my little clique of weather nerds, it's just not been the same since the divorce.   :sorry:

Think it was better in the SE/EA thread until the "big change", many left because of events due to and after that :cray:

Looking forward to the local regional threads too. Some good local West Country members to have a laugh with.

Penzance - Holyhead - Nottingham isn't regional at all, not even in a broad sense.

Look forward to posting in the local regional threads this winter, the sooner the better IMHO.

Well therein lies the problem. There was widespread disapproval when the regionals were closed completely due to lack of use, so we came up with the current compromise, but if we went back to the smaller regions they would be a pointless entity as we'd get a post or two a day at the moment.

Rest assured, they will be back, just when there is demand for it - which there really isn't at the moment.

There have been 15 posts since daybreak this morning in the SW/Wales/Midlands thread.

I would happily wager, with great confidence, that there would be more than 15 posts a day in my local regional thread (SW only thread).

Fair enough, some of the time there weren't necessarily weather related posts, but us West Country folk regularly came together and posted nevertheless.

Perhaps go halfway and merge a SW and SC thread together so it is more regional than what it is currently but not as locally regional as it is during busy winter periods?

Anyway, it's not my place to distribute thread regionality, just voicing a small opinion, shared by many local West Country folk.

Can understand your viewpoint too based on past experience. Thanks for replying.
