Let's hope Guildford gets it's turn - when I am present - this time.

It is Guilfest weekend - as far as I know, there has never been a thunderstorm during this festival event. Let's hope 2014 changes this! Glastonbury and the festival has had more than it's fair share of T.storms over the years - wish we could follow suit.

If I am lucky enough to witness some excitement this time then I will stop complaining about the latest raw deal of missing that event on 14th June. Other locations (Wattisham) have had more than one severe storm this year - if others can attain this, why can't Guildford?

Apart from two decent storms here, there has been nothing else this year, we usually get a collection of half hearted thundery showers as well as a couple of crackers.   The frequency of thunder days in this area seems to be declining year on year , yet the central/southern England  has had a good year overall,

ah well at least two decent storms is better than nothing,

I am waiting for that year where the yearly thunder count becomes zero, its gonna happen soon at this rate

the manchester area is the no mans land for interesting weather , unless you like occasional  moderate drizzle,

this year has been a joke for thunder, when the north gets it its always out to the west over wales or the irish sea or its way east over yorkshire,

hardly ever here

last night was yet another example of this area killing thundery activity,  active storm over n wales and mersyside just died to nothing as it got within 15 miles of here,  least i got to see a few distant flashes before it got killed by the local shield

Been a cracking year for thunder storms down here on the Kent coast, came out of the original no storms thread in January I think, can't remember exactly but know it was very early in the year. Also would have come out of this one straight away too. Had a real good storm come over from the continent with a shelf cloud, gust front.

apart from some distant lighting, not actually heard thunder here since last july !   which is shocking :(   so well and firmly back in here, did get out in the first half of 2014, but since this is from july onwards I think I need to be in here again, lets see how long i am stuck in here, it may be a while, could this be the year I never get out, our local storm shield gets stronger year on year :nonono:

Last time was in July here too if I remember correctly - but it was a thunderstorm that lasted all day and caused local flooding. My aunt's house was water damaged.

It's pretty normal really though. I don't expect thunderstorms in autumn or winter, so after September I move on. Don't expect thunderstorms this early - no way. Can happen, but not common.

Thunderstorms are much more common around the coast at winter time.

Last year was pretty good thunder wise here with 10 days,a couple or 3 thunderstorms too.

Last thundery shower was in October.

April can be the first month for thundery showers here, yes do have the odd crack of thunder during winter or even a thundery shower during jan as in a few years ago.

Last april gave one rumble on the 11th then there was a flake of snow on the 29th.

Late april 2011 was the last really good mid-spring month for thundery showers.

Just looking back there was a thundery shower here on march 1st with hail 2003,I can`t remember it but I must of as I recorded it.

I always put march as one of the least thundery months of the year.
