It's a super cell and moving ENE, current track if it can sustain itself and move in to the stronger sheared environment it will move through Oxford, Bicester, Buckingham, Milton Keynes and Bedord before heading into Cambridgeshire if it can live that long and is Cyclic in nature.

Yes, you're right. A quick glance at the radar earlier and I thought it was moving due north but closer inspection reveals a much more easterly track.

If our final saturday total is to be two or three uk storms,it just goes to show mother nature loves 'thumbing her nose' at the experts. Thursday nights storm fest was largley unforecast in the areas struck, then today we have the Heathrow fiasco limiting landings in clear blue sky due to forecast severe thunderstorms.

The sky to my south looks really settled now. Think that's it for the west , the settled, less humid air has come through.

There are cells to the west over Wales, developed on the last radar frame.

The clearing skies are a good thing as we may get to utilise some CAPE before it shifts east.

Not sure they will have the legs go far.

I wouldn't put money on Heathrow not having a storm just yet. IMO anywhere could still see one over the next few hours

The one west of Le Harve is the only one that's really made it off the coast and it is not electrified anymore.(Older strikes)

Storm moving through Coventry now.  Leading edge of the storm saw low level cloud fairly zipping along. Once it started to rain we have had a proper deluge with fairly frequent lightning. There is a fair amount of static in the air making your hair stand up on end.  Not much in the way of hail but a few dots of hail mixed in with the rain. Key risks were very heavy rainfall, blotting out almost all cloud structure and the constant reverberation from the thunder. No evidence of rotation and post storm low cloud is not zipping along like pre storm clouds were. Few towers behind the storm which might suggest back building. Definitely not one of those rather weak storms with a few flashes of lightning.

Just to add to this,  when it hit Leicester there was a quite windy gust front! And the underbelly of the storm clouds looked like micro rounded peaks and troughs which were moving erratically and quicked than the upper clouds, when the rain started, it was pea size rain, then stopped, then bucketed it down with huge bon bon sized rain drops with sweet corn sized hail intermixed.. we had no lightning within a 3 mile radius of LE30BB

but heard and saw lightning further afield which was obscured somewhat by the torrential rain.. it hung around for around 10/12 mins then cleared off north, a lot fresher behind it...

Some nice lightning there would have been a beauty if it was dark. Sheffield Gleadless probably got a good show from this Thundery shower/storm.

Talk about direct hit! what a storm!

Green sky as it approached, then it got very gusty and the rain was incredible!

Saw at least 10 cg and constant flashes throughout!

Developing well on latest radar grab and spreading NNE. Looks like they may be developing in vicinity of CF and should continue to tap into some modest CAPE over the next few hours. You can see them developing along a N-S axis from E Devon and up through Wales.

All this talk of storms is making me jealous. Not a sniff of any activity all day and extremely little last night.

I just want a nice storm. Can't be too much to ask for lol.

ok folks, just got back in from chasing that Swindon cell.....checked the radar and looks like a right moving supercell. I chased up to Barbury Hill (about 8 miles SE of Swindon, constant thunder and I'm interested to hear members thoughts on the photo's below as there was a definite lowering and spin up, possible fully fledged wall cloud....taken looking east

Great pics, def supercell in my opinion. Has it all, radar sig, right mover and your pictures only add to it. Well played! Pic below is the storm in its infancy.

Cell trundling through Devon heading N/NE...not sure if it'll last into the W Country/SE Wales though as lightning detection appears sporadic. Any reports down there?
