Very heavy wintry showers, sleet falling at the moment!

Sounds nice! I'd imagine quite a few people may wake up with a dusting tomorrow morning.

Hope everyone is having a good xmasdrinks.gif

Nice would be happy to see that here but very much doubt it have mentioned the possibility in the NW thread

but it seems to be met with negativity LOL

Well as you can see its extremely quiet in here to even though theres snow in the forecast. I think people have been disheartened by the amount of let downs that we have had this winter so far. I was just glad to see something tonight. Another band of heavy stuff on its way in. Lets see what it falls as!

At last! Snowing in Derry!

Nice one. Clear skies over in the east though and with a bit of wind it's chilly enough out there.

Finally got my internet topped up after having the xmas empty wallet syndrome. Good to see somewhere has finally got some snow, if of the marginal kind (to low levels). I was just walking along the seafront earlier today and the wind had that chill about it. I see our hopes of prolonged cold are set for mid January onwards with an SSW event quite probable early January?

Happy new year for later folks. Getting ready to P.A.R.T.Y. at 7:30pm, especially since there's a free bar for an hour or so.

2013 wants:

Snow

BBQ Summer

Girlfriend

Money

Peace

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.â€

And he replied:

“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.â€

So I went forth, and finding the Hand of God, trod gladly into the night. And He led me towards the hills and the breaking of day in the lone East.

So heart be still:

What need our little life

Our human life to know,

If God hath comprehension?

In all the dizzy strife

Of things both high and low,

God hideth His intention.

God knows. His will

Is best. The stretch of years

Which wind ahead, so dim

To our imperfect vision,

Are clear to God. Our fears

Are premature; In Him,

All time hath full provision.

Then rest: until

God moves to lift the veil

From our impatient eyes,

When, as the sweeter features

Of Life’s stern face we hail,

Fair beyond all surmise

God’s thought around His creatures

Our mind shall fill.

A happy and prosperous and peaceful New Year to all back home.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
