Do You Wish To Show Your Weather Preferences On Your Profile?

Poll on Profile Weather Preferences

53 members have voted

  1. 1. Given the option, would you like to show your preferred weather type to all users?

  2. 2. Will the inclusion of weather preferences help the mood of the threads?

    • No, absolutely not. It will simply lead to further anatagonistic posts.
    • Yes, it's a good thing. It will provide a more balanced view of the opinions expressed by certain members.
    • Not sure. Could be viewed equally, as a Good or a Bad thing.
    • Couldn't care less. A bit of letting off steam and verbal abuse is good for the soul.

Hi all,

I've been prompted to start a topic and a poll with regard to the above question. This was initiated, firstly by a post from ajpoolshark into yesterday's MOD thread. I feel, when the boiling cauldron, that is the Model Output Discussion thread, is in full flow, newcomers (of which, there are many) may find the many views confusing. So as AJ, rightly hinted at, perhaps us (the forum users) could add our personal preferences to our posts, better yet to their profile. Paul has kindly giving us all free reign to do just that.

I have already updated mine, as have a few others and I ask on you, should you wish, to do the same. Updating your preference is achieved simply by updating your profile status via your control panel section. If you object to doing this, that's fine as this is merely a trial at this stage and therefore you should vote accordingly via the poll options.

Persoanlly, I don't really know whether this will help the mood of the various forums but I'm hoping it will aid the discussions further.

Kind Regards

My preferences are too long to fit in the limit apparently. Put it under interests instead but that doesn't show up on posts.

Try to enter it in fewer words, ie. spring/summer warm&showery, autumn/winter mild&stormy.

Not that easy to do I must admit, but don't elaborate too much.

Cheers

PS! some interesting results so far and even those of you with plainly obvious names, please can you do the same.

Yes, done. I don't know if it will help the atmosphere in MOD or not, but I think it's worth a try. At the very least I doubt that it will make things any worse in there, while it will be interesting to see the various views.

Believe me I tried, I would have had to cut out at least a season to make it fit so gave up.

This is quite a good idea. Almost all of us are, at some time, prone to bias towards whatever our favourite type of weather might be so being aware of the preferences of the poster goes some way to putting the opinions expressed into perspective.

With that in mind I've updated my profile and I won't be expecting any flak the next time I'm moaning about fine, pleasant settled weather in summer. Although of course I try to restrict such outpourings to the whining thread.

Done mine. If room, would have added, 'No time: mild with cloud and/or drizzle'.
