Thats it as E wind dropped light SSW thaw now in session, dripping off trees/roof.

See how much survives, not alot if wind picks up.

A couple of cm this morning here but a few miles in Hagley it was nothing but rain. Similar story in Kidderminster too.

Roads were very bad for a time this morning as ice seemed to form and not helped that grit was washed away by a brief spell of rain before the snow.

Weather now turns boring for a good week or so now.

A high of 0.5C so far...judging by how much warmer it is just 100 miles to the south that will change soon.

Still hovering around 1c here, shocked the temperature hasnt risen for 8 hours considering the mild uppers and rain theres been, the thaw seems to be slowing down aswell.

surprised at how much snow I still had at 5.30pm, my max upto 5.30pm was 0.7C, but now quite a steady rise and thaw at 1.7C

was happy at todays snow, around 1 inch, adds to the great start to winter 10/11

Well, at 7am it was raining, turned to sleet about 7.20, then to heavy wet snow around 7.40- and amazingly it settled- even on the roads! Haven't seen snow that started as rain settle for years; last time I remember was Dec 1995. Had 2cm at 9am which only thawed very slowly through the day; still a slushy cover on the lawn now.

Yet again much better than I expected, especially given the rain to begin with- ensures January and the year 2011 will not be in the "no lying snow" club :good:

If it must turn mild...It would be good to break some records the other way!

You'll have to excuse me, I'm coming over all 1998!

Of course we'll get nothing on that scale, but every winter I always say if it must be mild, then lets break some records and try to make it interesting!

No more than 11C tops I reckon in reality though.

This is the last place I'd expect to see a photo of an aerial I fitted...

I reckon 8 or 9 this week Gord!!!

But after that - I want to see some more -6/7's again and some nice frosts!

We really can't complain though, since November we've had some fabulous weather - proper cold, beautiful hoar frosts (I've never seen the met office issue warnings about hoar frosts before!!), epic snow, icicles, giant snow flakes and fog.

Anything else over the next few weeks is a bonus.

The only thing on my wish list is thunder snow :D

Sunshine in January when we're not in a cold spell?

This is a wierd winter.

Turning into a lovely looking day out there.

Do you know what...i read that several times to check i had the spelling of weird correct! Was convinced that I had and left it! :whistling: I'm clearly on weekend mode!

Wired fits just as well though!

So,place your bets on how high we can get in the next 7 days. I'm still going to stick with my 11....quite ambitious though.

Edit: Just realised I spelt my own spelling mistake wrong as well! :wallbash::clap:

Think upto 12C, and minimums of around 9C, tues to fri but I just want it dry, The January CET thread cant believe how low everyone has predicted, my 4.6C seems stupidly low
