THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SMALL PART OF SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA

MUCH OF NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS

EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 520 PM UNTIL

1100 PM CDT.

HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70

MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80

STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES EAST

NORTHEAST OF DURANT OKLAHOMA TO 45 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF

BROWNWOOD TEXAS. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE

FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH

AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS

AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY

DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

DISCUSSION...THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE IN NUMBER AND INTENSITY

ALONG SURFACE BOUNDARIES IN A VERY UNSTABLE AIR MASS. WITH MLCAPES

TO 3000 J/KG LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING DOWNBURST WINDS WILL BE

ASSOCIATED WITH STRONGEST UPDRAFTS. STORMS WILL MOVE SLOWLY AND

PROPAGATE E AND SE.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT

TO 2.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60

We are heading into Fort Worth now and head south down I-35 through to Sern side, very heavy traffic - we are hoping to crawl south and beat the core coming in from the west!!!

Pat, heaviest core of storm is 15 miles to our west - but moving slowly fortunately. It is 36C just outside Ft Worth! Reports of golf ball size hail and destructive winds in excess of 70 mph.

This is our new venture into urban chasing ... lol :rolleyes:

DFW airport is in the path of this beast, glad I'm not flying back this evening as the airport will be closed with 70 mph wind gusts.

Quite an unsettling weather report there, my Dad lives in Irving, and looks like it is heading right for him. Think he's used to it by now...?

We have just been through the most amazing baseball size hailstorm!!! Trees are stripped of leaves along the road - no windows smashed but some dents.

Gonna have some great video footage uploaded later of us taking baseballs.
