  1. Thats the point Paul, I came here to this thread because this is the thread for Help and Support. Thats what it says on the tin. My first request for help as to why posts were deleted without explanation was deleted!! I mean....that does take the biscuit doesnt it? The PM I had didnt offer any explanation as to why it was deleted or why posts went missing. This site basically has a rampant deleter or two running around at will with no regard and not offering of any explanation when requested. I didnt see that in the site rules and it is breaking the trust between members and the site. It must be taken seriously and be addressed or this site will get a bad name.
  2. I think you are a tad over the top. Piers has got to where he is because he has a very good following and a very good record.
  3. Please resend me your explanations regarding why my posts have been removed from the thread "BBC / Met Office Minimum temp forecasts and your explanations as to why my posts have been removed from the thread; "weather in the media" In both these threads my posts have been deleted....about seven of them in total and other members replies to me were also deleted. I have recieved no explanations from anyone. The last time you contacted me with a pm was almost six months ago at the beginning of August last year. I have replied to other member's pm's and i can send you copies if you like and copies of their responses telling me that they had not the time or the inclination to answer me...or not bothered at all. I still have absolutely no idea why I am having posts removed and nobody is telling me.
  4. Yes, it looks as if there is a general warming of the atmosphere across the UK. Warmer air moved north from the Benelux region last night and the north of England drew across slightly warmer air from the North Sea yesterday ahead of the snow. This slightly warmer air which has maritime roots is now spinning around the UK. So its a general environmental warming in situe. The only way we can obtain colder air is to see a new blast of easterlies or if the atmosphere dries out and clears of cloud. Look for either of these scenarious for a continued cold period. If neither come about then precipitation will continue to turn to sleet and then rain as it has done in the northwest and northern ireland at times recently.
  5. Paul, I am not talking about the serious discussion area. You did explain to me about that. However, I have never had an explanation about the climate forum other than you had taken the area off line and nobody could see it. That was what I was told at the time. As far as posts being deleted in other forums; I have not once ever had any explanation from anyone. Every time I ask I am told that there is no time to explain or that I should know! Well know what? What is it that I am doing wrong? Give me an example of the posts from the thread on BBC /Meto minimum temp forecasts. Lets see why they went missing....lets have an explanation about where there is a problem and it can be stopped. I even had my post here asking the question deleted. I just got an answer saying you know!! Well I dont know. What is the reason for this kind of behind the scenes behaviour?
  6. I had a response yes Paul, but nobody has taken the time to explain why posts are going missing or why I cannot get into the climate area of the site. All I get is : "I havent the time or inclination to answer you" This is the same response I have had for a full year now. Its discraceful not to give an explanation. What is going on in this site?
  7. I am continually having my posts deleted in this site without any explanation whatsoever by people working in the background. I would like help and support from this thread and an explanation rather than simply deleting my requests. Will someone please take the time to explain please.
  8. It’s snowing, and it really feels like the start of a mini ice age Boris Johnson in the Telegraph today: " I observe that something appears to be up with our winter weather, and to call it “warming†is obviously to strain the language. I see from the BBC website that there are scientists who say that “global warming†is indeed the cause of the cold and snowy winters we seem to be having." "As a species, we human beings have become so blind with conceit and self-love that we genuinely believe that the fate of the planet is in our hands" "Now Piers has a very good record of forecasting the weather. He has been bang on about these cold winters. Like JMW Turner and the Aztecs he thinks we should be paying more attention to the Sun. According to Piers, global temperature depends not on concentrations of CO2 but on the mood of our celestial orb." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/borisjohnson/9814618/Its-snowing-and-it-really-feels-like-the-start-of-a-mini-ice-age.html Now most of us too have now also come to the conclussion that the CO2 theory has been overplayed and still is simply; just a theory.
  9. As promised: some Winter 1987 photos of South East Essex. 1 meter of level snow fell..... I had to walk out for miles to get one rare train from central Southend to London where I couldnt return for five days due to no transport. I stayed in a hotel until I could get back and the area became unblocked again. Shame because the snow had reduced over the week and became compressed so it doesnt show the enormity of the event a week earlier. these photos taken one week after the snow had fallen and it had been blown around by the wind a few days after the storm. Poor photos, but a thunder snow storm over the island of sheppey seen from essex. Council digging through fifteen feet of snow on the main arterial dual carriageway. The very top of the buldozer bucket as the council tried for days to dig towards us. The boats frozen in the North Sea which was frozen a mile out off shore. My car six days after the 1 meter of snow and i started to dig it out. Sorry for poor images, i have a really cr-p scanner. but if you open the files and expand the images you will get better detail. 10. Yes, under the section @Weather Discussion and Chat, thread: BBC / Met Office minimum temp forecasts three or four posts vannished and it was happening last week in the Media and weather section where about five posts were vannished. Can you throw any light on the reason why?
  11. Can anybody explain why whole sections of some threads and posts keep vannishing without explanation? Its difficult enough trying to follow some threads in this site, but when what you have been reading vannishes the next day ...it makes the whole thing just pointless.
  12. I think this snow event has been well and trully overplayed. London....1cm and light snow. Southend on Sea....bone dry ....zero snow. Maldon Essex..........bone dry....zero snow. I think amounts elsewhere will be much llower too with just a few centimeters. I think we are looking at the lower estimates and not the ramped up forecasts of upper estimates.
  13. Has everyone else noticed that the BBC weather forecasts by the Met Office do not show minimum air temperatures anymore? They will only show minimums in towns or cities and therefore showing temperature minimums way too high! Example; the southeast nightime minimums were forecast at -4C widely. However the minimums were -8C and even below.
  14. So another month below average temperatures on the cards.....what a surprise.
  15. Low cloud, dry, light wind, temps a few degrees above freezing, the cold air has not arrived yet
  16. It doesnt look as if there will be too much extra snow cover in the next week over Europe. Or am I reading it wrong?
  17. The periodicals will always sensationalise any story because it sells news papers. Thats their business, selling papers. However, I agree with what Piers said in his media statement today: "These extreme events are entirely driven by solar activity and lunar factors and nothing to do with changes in CO2 which have no effect whatsoever on weather or climate"
  18. Any reports that you know of relating to the weather on the ground during that period of 1894?
  19. Wow, 498 would be really something. At that time the internet was not available to me and so I couldnt get data like that. I think I will look back at my old Meto charts and see if I can see the dams on the charts.
  20. Ah, yes, I lived on the southeast Essex coast at this time in January 1987....we had heavy thundersnow bringing 38 inches of level snow and sea smoke. Would love to experience that again. The cold upper air set the southern North Sea alight with rampant convection.
  21. Here is a question for all the model watchers amongst us: Who knows and can show any links to the coldest pool of upper air recorded over England during the winter months giving rise to the shallowest hights of the Tropopause? I say England because Scotland often has much colder upper pools reducing heights to <520. I seem to remember a few occasions when I saw the 512 dam over England with the 850Hpa temps of about -15C. Can anyone else remember a time when we here in England experienced even colder upper air and therefore <512 dam values?
  22. My January CET forecast was -0.2C below the official average January CET. I tried to clarify it as best I could at the time. This was it: Posted 04 January 2013 - 12:57 -0.2C deviation from the January CET average
  23. I have got to say that for severe winter weather the southern North Sea and Thames Estuary take some beating. When frigid continental air crosses the southern North Sea the track is short enough to keep temperatures below freezing in the southeast but just long enough to produce huge amounts of snow but only in southeast Essex and Kent. Even ten miles away from the coast inland in Essexthe snow amounts are almost halved and twenty miles away from the coast in a northeasterly there can be no snow whatsoever. But the Thames Estuary can be awsome. Quite a few times I have seen thunderstorms on the coast in southeast Essex dumping five or six inches of snow in less than forty five minutes. Next weekend we could se the potential for this to occur all over again. All we need is a strong east, northeasterly of -10C air in the southern North Sea blowing up the Thames and crossing a sea temp of +7C and hey presto.....bang....the atmosphere is set alight.
  24. I guess all eyes should go to Poland surface temps on Friday as a guide to what will be in the southeast on Sunday undercutting behind the polar front
  25. As I said last week, I really think that we are looking at dry or dryer episode now for weeks even months. The models, all models in my opinion do seem to be showing this for a great deal of the country. With none showing anything zonal. Therefore, as temperatures fall next week, any precipitation of the solid kind wont amount to much. But as I indicated last week the southeast will be the place for the coldest air and the highest precipitation in the form of showers or frontal as the arctic front slips south down the North Sea.
