Overview http://www.snow-fore...views/tips_full There has a been a stunning week over the Alps, with heavy snowfall widely and over half a metre in places giving fantastic powder conditions. This week is a little bit more mixed in terms of temperatures and snowfall, but there does seem to be quite a lot of sunny weather on the cards to enjoy the fresh snowfall, with some very cold overnight temps. This fine weather should continue tomorrow but turning much milder next week with a thaw, but good skiing conditions are expected in any sunshine , best conditions as ever in these conditions in the morning.

Alps Weather Blog 11th January 2013

Overview The Alps over recent weeks have seen great conditions for those wanting warm sunshine, but not those wanting to see long lasting snow conditions. However recent days has seen colder weather push in from the East, http://www.snow-fore...views/tips_full The forthcoming week has a great deal of weather uncertainty for the UK after the recent Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event (SSW), however for Europe and the Alp

Alps Weather Blog 5th January 2013

After the Christmas break, this is the first forecast in 2013 and there will be a weekly forecast right through until April. Many times over recent years we have seen a very good start to the season, but things turning worse as we move into the new year. Will this happen this year. Very much an east west split this week, mild over western parts, but much colder for Eastern parts, with Austria seeing the best of the cold weather and the snow this week. Definitely a week to be on the slopes, and n

Alps / Europe Past week The forecast last week suggested a rather variable week with fluctuating freezing levels and snow conditions. This week for the Alps in Summary - The trend towards milder weather increasing for the start of the forecast period, and with 850HPA temps of over +10c at times, no surprise that it will be very mild or even warm for a time. As ever the following link gives the latest conditions http://www.snow-fore...views/tips_full this seems to suggest that the bas forecast was right at least until Thursday. Alps Weather Blog 7th December 2012

Alps / Europe Past week Last week I commented about the improvement over the Alps, this week has continued the vast improvement, and there has been a transformation of snow conditions from green field to deep snow over most Alpine mountains and down to resort level quite widely. This also means a very good base has been established which is now likely to remain to the end of this season. For most of November there was mild weather over the Alps, with the snow line rising back up th

Alps Weather Blog 24th November 2012

Alps / Europe Past week Over the past week, the pattern has been very similar , with low pressure around the UK, which has given the very wet weather and flooding, High Pressure to the East, with the Alps being mostly mild with generally southerly winds. http://www.snow-fore...views/tips_full At this stage, the main resorts being features are the glaciers so the mild weather does not have the impact lower down the slopes.

Netweather Alps Ski Conditions 28th April End Of Season Wrap Up

Summary Definitely a week of contrasts there has been some very heavy snow over higher resorts in the Alps, very impressive for this time of year, and also after some resorts have closed at the end of the season. This makes a marked contrast to last season which ended much milder. The snow was though largely limited to higher slopes and it has turned milder towards the end of the week. http://www.snow-forecast.com/pages/tips_full Winds this week are set to come from a South Weste

Netweather Alps Ski Conditions 20th April Summary

Summary It has continued to be unsettled over the Alps, and much of the snow falling over higher slopes has been of snow, giving excellent skiing over the higher runs, however as we move further into April, more and more resorts close, but the majority will stay open until their designated end of season date. A mixed picture over the Alps, rather unsettled but with some snow over higher slopes and resorts and some heavy falls in places as well. [url="http://www.snow-forecast.com/

Netweather Blog Alps Ski And Weather Forecast 31st March

Summary The Alps has joined the UK in enjoying warm sunshine this week, with suntan lotion a must however this has meant that snow levels have dropped this week, by around 30cm, however at least temps have been cold overnight to refreeze the lying snow. Best conditions can be seen on north facing slopes and the higher up you go the better the conditions. Elsewhere conditions are turning progressively slushy into the afternoon as the powerful sun melts the snow. [url="http://www.s

Netweather Blog Alps Ski And Weather Forecast 23rd March

Summary A very topsy turvy week in the Alps, as forecast there was heavy snow in parts of the Alps around the last weekend and the start of last week to quite low levels, however much milder conditions has meant that most of this snow has thawed, with conditions now very similar to that of last week. Mild conditions seem quite likely for next week, so a further thaw seems likely, so good weather for skiing, even if the snow is likely to turn slushy in the afternoon and again suntan

It goes without saying how tragic the coach crash in Switzerland was this past week, and my thoughts are with those families effected. Further down resorts have been losing their snow cover, and slopes are seeing the snow base thin and turn slushy, however snow levels are still quite good after heavy snow earlier in the winter, Next week is looking mostly dry and turning milder, so the best of the skiing conditions in the morning.

Summary It has been a very strange winter across the Alps, and most of Europe generally, mild to start with a notable lack of snowfall, however once in started in early to Mid December, it has been very snowy and very cold over the Alps with great skiing conditions. Over the past few days it has turned very mild which has led a thaw especially on lower slopes, given the excellent snow depths that is not too much of a concern in the short term, however it is also set to be mild for mos
