  1. Interesting here too. Wasn't particularly cold last night but light snow was falling before dawn. Temp around 2°. We had heavier settling snow for awhile then back to light sleet. The last 30 mins have been large flakes albeit with a bit of rain mixed in yet the forecasts and the radar are all saying rain. Currently 2.3 from a high of 2.6. It gives me hope that the it can snow even if everything appears to be saying the opposite.
  2. The heaviest snow we have seen here in a long time. Interesting that we usually think we need embedded cold first to get snow yet yesterday it was 7° til quite late in the afternoon.
  3. It's a long time since I've been on here but thought i would share my genuine surprise that it is snowing lightly here, one mile inland. Unusual, I usually have to drive over the hill to spot a flake in these situations.
  4. Thanks, thought it was evaporation but didn't know why. Sods law, we seldom get them low enough for snow and when we do they are too low!
  5. What's the explanation for the radar showing snow but nothing happening? What conditions cause this?
  6. Anyone know what the chances are of that curl of snow hitting the south coast? Met and BBC are at odds just for a change!!
  7. Put a bottle of champers in, only to be drunk if it snowed...................yippee. It's still snowing, which right down by the sea is worth celebrating. (Although to be fair I can be persuaded to open a bottle in less extreme circumstances!)
  8. Well, so much for a cold snap it was more like monsoon season around here yesterday. We had a shower that developed yesterday afternoon and just didn't move, there's a video of the rivers of water that closed the roads in a village near me yesterday on the Wessex FM website. www.wessexfm.com/news/dorset-news/2786340/flooding-in-portesham/
  9. Well what a fab day. Heavy snow from 6ish, first sledging by nine, second sledging by 1pm. Nice roastie followed by a couple of pints and to finish off it's started snowing again. It's just a shame it only happens every 9 or 10 years, by my reckoning I've only got another couple of shots at this before I'm too decrepit!!
  10. I hoping that blob keeps heading north not west, it seems to have slowed in the channel a tad. MInd you this is the reader of the radar who thought this snow was going to miss me earlier this morning.
  11. I was very nervous when I looked at the radar at 5am to see the snow was just to my right and looked like it was going to miss me. Fortunately it is pepping up nicely in the Channel and it is snowing quite hard here now. Hope everyone else gets some too. Off for my first walk of no doubt many today. Just waiting for the fields to go white so I can go sledging. Fortunately there won't be any hidden frozen molehills like there were the last time, by god they hurt!
  12. Thanks all! All I want to do is put my bum on a bit of plastic tomorrow and bundle down a hill, then I'll be happy. I'm getting on a bit now so every bit of snow that falls has to useable!!
