  1. Heating on full whack here. Can see my breath outside. Vile.
  2. SunnyG Yeah haha it says it all about our climate when the Meto are visibly embarrassed of it.
  3. B87 yes, I'm writing off May and the remainder of spring now as we know how long these patterns take to shift. That's 2 months down from what I describe as the "warmer and lighter" half of the year (April - September) . April and May used to be my favourite months of the year because the nights are drawing out rapidly, plants are in bloom and you get those first lovely warm spring days. Not anymore lol. Might even be my new least favourite part of the year because there is something so irredeemably cruel and foul about having to endure this ghastly extension of Winter right up until summer.
  4. SunSean did you copy this from Markyo’s diary? I am of course, just playing
  5. With the outlook looking as awful as it does, is there at least any sign of any convective activity in the models?
  6. Nick L it’s the wind! When the wind stops it’s absolutely fine (if I stand at a certain angle in my back garden behind a wall it almost feels like it could be spring)
  7. Just walked the dog in thermals and my huge winter coat and bobble hat. The wind is absolutely raw. Just in the process of booking the second of two holidays abroad this summer (Spain in June and south of France in august). I’m not letting the god awful climate of this place ruin my mental and physical health for 2 years running
  8. raz.org.rain I do remember thinking in like Feb ‘at least this spring can’t be as bad as the last one’ A cautionary tale to never tempt fate.
  9. CryoraptorA303 I’ve lived where I live in Andover since 2015 and can confirm the grass here in the parks and along verges goes brown pretty much every summer - apart from last summer. Definitely not just a London thing.
  10. CryoraptorA303 seasonality would make me happy personally. I’m not even crazy about snow but it is cool around Christmas and in winter time. mellow mists and fog in autumn etc. It really hasn’t been much better here to be fair - it still rains most days only now it’s much colder which makes it even more disgusting. I would honestly rather have the milder SWlies back because at least I didn’t have to have the heating on every morning and night and be wrapped up indoors like I’m on a sledging expedition to Svalbard.
  11. SunnyG I wish I could. My mate relocated to Dijon for work about six years ago - and although that’s not right down south, it still enjoys much better weather than here. Whenever I ask him if he’s thinking of coming back he laughs like a maniac.
  12. CryoraptorA303 I disagree with this because unless you like mild(ish) and absolutely sodden, very few people have enjoyed the last 8 months. Warmies and Coldies alike. I would argue you are in the minority for finding something positive in the absolute ghastly period of weather we find ourselves in.
  13. I can see a cheeky 15 degrees popping up in my weather app towards day ten. That would be exciting in early February
  14. It can’t be called a ‘spell’ anymore, so the worst ‘era’ of weather I have ever experienced this (since the end of summer 22). Im genuinely worried this new awfulness has stuck and will be our default moving forwards (with the odd small window of respite like June 23 and the week in September) The three summer months will have to be absolutely phenomenal now to salvage this year because May looks just as uninspiring and by the time we get to the end of July the nights are drawing back in and we gear up for at least another 8 months of dross. Thank Christ I am actually going on holiday this year if only for a week.
