  1. Seems to have calmed down here in Ayrshire, or is it just a lull?
  2. Just had a heavy snow shower here in Kilmarnock which has topped up the snow nicely. However according to the met office we're to get rain later? They didn't forecast the heavy snow here last night, hoping they're wrong about the rain too!
  3. Will East Ayrshire see any snow? Hoping it shifts ever so slightly north!
  4. Gone very dark looking to the east of here... have had some hefty showers today but no thunder/lightning so far.
  5. Just had a heavy hail shower here with a flash of lightning and a crack of thunder.
  6. I remember that storm, I was still living at home with my parents, the power went out, the cats were beside themselves and we thought the windows were going to blow in, very scary. Went out next day and there was so much damage, there was a big boat aground on Troon beach, countless trees/fences down. Haven't seen anything as bad since I don't think.
  7. Thanks for that. I'm by no means an expert, but I've been following netweather for a couple of years now and I've learned a lot. I have been reading not only this thread, but the other one about ex-Katia, I've been checking the met office site and various other sites which I found via links on this thread. I came to the conclusion that this was slightly more than a "normal autumn storm" with it being ex tropical etc, and therefore I am concerned for what may happen from a mild concern about my already shaky garden fence to a bigger worry for family out and about on Monday. During the last windy storm we had my friends father got a fright whilst out driving when a roadsign got blown into his windscreen, he was on a motorway at the time. That wasn't even as bad as this one is predicted to be. So that's why I found the comment about the odd wheelie bin flying about vey confusing! I will continue to follow this thread and watch with interest to see what happens. Whilst I love a good storm, I sincerely hope everyone stays safe. Thanks for all the replies and info :-)
  8. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't know what to think, one minute there are posts about how severe the storm is going to be and then the next there are posts like this! Very confusing! Hope everyone stays safe if it does turn out to be a bad one.
  9. Torrential rain in Kilmarnock at the moment, heard one clap of thunder.
  10. It's gone really dark here and we have what looks like sleet, which is lying.
  11. It was picture postcard white and icy here this morning, then it rained and thawed it all, briefly snowed and now it's just grey, cold and miserable!
