  1. The cell in the photo is actually not the right mover that Paul mentioned yesterday. It was taken a couple of hours later but in pretty much exactly the same spot as the earlier cell. On radar (and from a distance, I was observing from a hill about 25 miles away!) it didn't look massively organised but that pic definitely does suggest otherwise. I need to check exact times with my friend as she said it was taken at 'about 7.30', looking back at the radar sequence I think it might have been a bit later though as it looks like it really intensified at about 7.45.
  2. A friend of mine took this yesterday at about 7.30pm near Dereham in Norfolk. Pretty awesome...!
  3. Pretty decent day for interesting weather here in Norwich today. Went out early in the afternoon with the camera to catch a few pics of a fairly weakish storm which wasn't the most spectacular thing ever. The at about 7 I headed out again and spent nearly 3 hours watching the strong cells to the west slowly tracking NNW. Nothing special in terms of structure but some amazing lightning/sunset scenes. Got a few lightning shots which I'll post tomorrow. Didn't get wet either which was a bonus!
  4. Thanks all! Camera/Lens was a Canon EOS 50D with 15-18mm lense. Panos were made using 5 or 6 (can't remember which!) shots stitched in Photoshop. Photo was taken near Trowse. The bridge in the 1st Pano is where the road to Stoke Holy Cross goes over the A47. Great storm spotting location although a bit scary when there's lightning about!!
  5. For the second time in a couple of weeks I've got seriously lucky with some amazing looking weather! This decaying storm timed its arrival perfectly with the setting sun to give some absolutely spectacular looking skies. There was no rain or wind, just a couple of flickers of lightning. Awesome experience watching is slowly roll towards me. A great way to end the weekend!
  6. Nice pics/videos and write up mate! I was on the same storm but further South just outside of Trowse, it really was the most active daytime storm I've seen in years! My photos etc here;

    Intense storm approacing. Norwich, Norfolk.
  8. Caught this beauty yesterday evening. Great as I wasn't expecting anything!
  9. Bump. Looking at a Galaxy S II and could do with knowing if NW radar will work. Thanks.
  10. The one decent shot I got from last night's storm. I'd have liked a closer bolt and a bit more central but I can't complain, it was just nice to see some night time lightning for the first time in a couple of years!
  11. Nice pics! I was in Bawburgh yesterday evening and could just about see that lot through the trees to the north. Would have liked to have got out with the camera too!
  12. Just been out to have a look at this. Judging by radar it's about 20 miles SW of Norwich at the moment somewhere near Thetford. Visability isn't great though so apart from the hazy edge of the anvil there isn't much to see. Hopefully it might keep on till dusk when I'll get out for some lightning shots. I'm tempted to go and have a closer look but I think photographically wise it will just be murk. Fingers crossed for some action after sunset.
  13. About 10am one morning, temp was still around -7.
