  1. Another 10cm or so overnight in Aboyne. Schools closed. Kids will enjoy sledging in nearby field later.
  2. Heavier snow now on and lots of birds at the feeding station in the back garden. Snowboarding later after work on a nearby hill with night lights. Was a blast last night with 9yr old who was excited to get his snowboard back out the storage bag. VID-20240115-WA0012.mp4
  3. Snowing in Aboyne. Light at the moment. Moving east. Might get a little top up from this during the next few hours.
  4. About 7cm in Aboyne and schools closed today so kids will have some fun on boogieboards on nearby hill after home schooling.

  6. Yes that will be the "wishbone effect" I'm sick of seeing comments on from the SE bias / main thread ... TBH the main thread has been a joke for days and days with school kid behaviour at times. Pathetic childish stuff sometimes. Ensembles look good for us in Scotland. I've been keenly into weather forecasting for over 40 years now and the up and coming spell is certainly interesting given these synoptics are fairly rare.
  7. Heavy snow here in Aboyne 15min ago. More to come looking at the radar.
  8. The 528dm air disappears quickly so guess that's why they're going for rain. Sunday's a long way out though so not buying the GFS at the moment. A small correction south will keep Scotland in the Arctic air.
  9. Great idea but the chances of getting the councils to do anything proactively are slim. Good on you for trying though. I did see the road chaos on the news this morning. Not like they didn't have warnings about a little snow. I grew up 14 miles from school west of Inverness in the countryside at altitude and I can only remember a few days off and it was proper snow that caused it (12+ inches snow) and the main schools rarely closed so kids that could make it in would go even if there were less teachers in. Changed days and I'm sure nanny state policies have put a stop to any creativity by teachers to try look out for kids education which I know they aspire to do.
  10. Perhaps 4cm here in Aboyne. Not much new snow overnight. Schools closed. Total joke. Home office view this morning.
  11. 15+c here in Aboyne today. Stepped out the home office at lunchtime and it felt like a good spring day outside. As much as I love the infrequent cold snowy days of winter, the damp rainy days we often get nowadays makes it more of a chore. Already had my fill of winter so hopefully a mild end to come.
  12. Was doing something similar in an empty carpark near our house in the Dec cold spell. Off course our 8yr old blabber mouth did tell his ma after I said something similar.... Agree - never grow up. Winter tyres and a Golf R is the best weapon for controlled fun in the snow !!!
  13. I've seen worse. Should see some transient snow based on these ensembles.
