I'm sure it was a sarcastic comment John :D

Yep, I was being sarcastic :-PSeriously though, I've seen this sort of sky before and reckon it's ripe for storms tonight. My plan: drive out to the east and sit tight in Kent maybe Sevenoaks hoping for a decent clipper (or maybe I'll be too far in for that. Sstay there til midnight or 1am, then head back west to Guildford and radar watch in case a storm comes by...Sound like a good idea?

Okay anyone know of good high up storm watching places near Tonbridge Wells?

Not sure myself, although be prepared to struggle to find it on a sign :rofl:There's a great viewing point off of J2 of the M20 up by West Kingsdown (higher than anywhere else in Kent I believe)

Quite impressed with the storms that have formed over the 'Channel' !! I reckon they could pack quite a punch into Kent and Extremities of East Anglia later on. Glad we seemed to have got our old summer scenario's back! Looks to be more plume opportunities in August too by the looks of it.

Sea temperatures are also quite remarkably high too. Can't remember seeing them this high for a long long time. They certainly seem to be a key factor to aiding storms in our direction.

Doesn't quite feel the same here in NW Kent, if anything feels distinctly unthundery - skies though flooded with mid level instability again, which for elevated action is what matters I suppose :D

radar looking quite promising for S-East

Indeed...electrical activity not incredibly inspiring at the moment though

Looks like a bust for the SE I reckon and WRF NMM 18z shows another flip and significant downgrade.

Looks like it could be doing what GFS is forecasting. Worst of it off the coast. See what the time brings but at least they are intensifying
