Cracking morning on the north coast (no, not Bamburgh) - full sun, little wind and about 12C. And no midges!

Just join in anyway. I live closer to Newcastle than Glasgow, we're all part of Greater Scotland now...

Nowt much to write about weatherwise today, it's cool and cloudy but bright. Friday looking good across the region, from Nairn to Newcastle :)

Yes it's a secret plan we moved the border without Cameron knowing about it! LOL

A surpringly better day than forecasted. Sun's out although still a lot of cloud around. Not too warm though

Not long after that we went into one of the best and warmest summers going and the West of Scotland done well that year. The June was near enough drought conditions. The Fair Friday Lanarkshire and parts of Glasgow got hit by a massive Thunderstorm one of the biggest of all in the area. I remember the August been outstanding for sunshine and temperature.

Decent day yesterday and been similar so far today with sunshine and broken white fluffy clouds. With a breeze coming from a generally northerly direction it's not exactly felt warm, with temperatures just climbing into the low teens. End of the week currently forecast to be a bit warmer i.e mid teens, but cloudier.

Nice start to today, plenty of puffed up Cu around. Sun is doing it's work and setting things off well for later in the afternoon.

You weren't wrong, rather hefty shower passing over now and looks from the rain radar it won't be the last.

Just a bit too far north east all these beasties. Looks to be a hell of a lot of action about though

Brilliant heat when the skies clear and some impressive cotton wool TCUs. Thanks for the updated acronym Jo !

Excellent blog here on nowcasting and steering winds from Jo here - http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news;storyid=5885;sess=

Also, magic post by the legendary Brickfielder within the Convective thread , worth a read. East Coast looking likely to catch some of the sparkier stuff. Link to post here http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/80164-convective-storm-discussion-1st-may-2014-onwards/page-26#entry2967767

Radar and Satellite always the best watch. A nicely bubbled up line of Cu over Fife right now and you can see the associated hot spots on the V6 radar.

Looks like quite a decent storm about to hit Edinburgh. I can see it from here but think it will most likely slide past here, hope it builds a bit more :)

Yep - it is rumbling away can hear it from here. This is the view out to the East - great contrast of colours.

Somewhere is going to get a good show from this..

Nice and peaceful and sunny in the garden with the sound of distant thunder. Lovely.

Western edge of the cells may clip West Lothian, Edinburgh in for some fun !

Plenty of heavy showers passing over during the afternoon but nothing 'flashy, bangy' this far North. Well at least I haven't seen/heard anything other than heavy rain.

This day? This photo was taken in Hamilton, May 1995. The trees were in full leaf which made the snow seem even more odd.

19 years ago today it was snowing and settling in the west of Scotland (in the morning). Does anyone else remember this or was it localised to Inverclyde & Renfrewshire?

Took a quick drive to try and catch the storm passing through and caught the back edge of it as it passed. Success one solitary lightning bolt !

Complete deluge in Edinburgh by the look of things. Heavy downpours.

Apologies for image quality grabbed on the phone as opposed to any kind of decent camera.

Here is what it looks like from Glasgow.

Been a nice day in East Kilbride with wall to wall sunshine. But South East of here a Thundery shower has developed.http:////f1.nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_images/tctc91_simplify/attachicon.gifimage.jpg

From a friend on fb, this is what it looked like at a closer distance. A beauty.

Here is what it looks like from Glasgow.

Looked good from there as you can see the anvil. I watched the cloud build up and expected rain but it moved south east and formed into a thundery shower. Over Glasgow it's been dry and sunny all day.

Nice storm just blew over here, few horizontal bolts of lighting and a bit thunder as it approached, but seems to be clearing now
