April was the sunniest month of 1954 here which is usually the sign of a terrible summer.

April has been sunniest month of the year 11 times since 1900 in Aberdeen:

1900, 1906, 1912, 1914, 1927, 1942, 1952, 1954, 1965, 2007, 2011

These include some of the worst summers on record and really only 1906 and 1914 from that lot had anything resembling a decent summer.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
