Have you seen the radar Mapantz? Very slow moving area of deep reds over your part of Dorset, must be causing some flash flooding. It seems to be edging slowly NE but hasn't really moved in the last 90 minutes.

Yeah, I'm on the edge of it but it has been quite steady. 7.4mm falling in an hour or so.

That doesn't surprise me one bit, a friend coming back from Dorch said the roads were flooded all over the place, it came in a short space of time too!13mm fell here, that was in just over three hours. :) Edited by Mapantz

I don't know why I installed the met office app, it's useless! 10pm last night, it had heavy rain down for here all day, literally from 3am until midnight. There has been no rain and it's currently dry. The app now says light rain from 3pm, how do you plan a day with so much variance? It's pointless having forecasts if it changes so much.

12°C and dry.

another inch of rain from 7am yesterday until 7am today here at Broadmayne. Just seen the bbc forecast looks like there could be another inch before 7am tomorrow.

You are getting a raw deal over there, mcweather.  I recorded just 3.2mm here to 09.00 today and all we've had so far today has been light drizzle amounting to nothing much.

The MO app/site has heavy rain, every hour, from now until 10am.

Really?

Bar today's patchy rainfall, this region should remain dry on the whole all the way through to around the 16th/17th April, i.e. the middle part of Easter week. Beyond this period, there has to be some doubt as to how things evolve, the elusive Northerly mentioned within the MOD thread in recent days, will unlikely affect our part of the UK, but may of course keep things cooler. Going on "gut feeling" alone (although hints also coming from 15dayer UKMO forecast), I feel the largely dry signal will be extended into the Easter period and maybe some early heat and humidity will spark off some Thunderstorms as can often be expected in spite of relatively High Pressure.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole. A warm first half to to the month averaged out the cold second half. View the full blog here
