Got a covering of snow this morning, now thawed it does make the 10th day this winter with total snowcover though at 9am which is good considering how bad its been for snow or a lack of it for low ground,I mean none on low ground.

it looks like we may have a major dry spell coming up finally - give everyone a chance in the south to dry out - watching the ukranian situation today develop - seems we got snow to the left and right of us - snow in Ukraine and when they went to Washington it was belting down with a blizzard behind the reporter - oh to have those conditions in Wales - oh well never mind - Scotland still has piles of the white stuff in the ski resorts and it's still falling - not a lot we can do this year now - will have to be patient and wait and see what next year will bring

from the scottish snow section

Nevis Range have said that they currently have more snow then at any point in the history of the resort!

The Goose gully is full to the rafters with ski anywhere conditions, getting onto a mile in width. At its deepest point they reckon the snow in the gully is getting onto 60ft deep. General cover of 3.6m on upper runs and 1.6m on lower runs. The season will last well into the summer and beyond at this rate!

so it looks like snow for sking will last well into the summer and beyond for anyone who needs a snow fix before next winter - a trip to Scotland is needed (especially before you might need a passport lol) - seems glacier like beginnings may also be starting - a large avalanche occured in one of the cols - material is buried extremely deep - will take some thaw to get rid of that!

Feeling nice and springlike yesterday in Cardiff with sunny spells! We should maintain the warm temperatures and sunny spells over the next few days with Sunday being the warmest day. After this a cool down back to average with cloudier skies mixed in with sunny intervals...

Not so sure about it being average and cloudy next week P. With the high centred to our east and a generally SE flow, Wales, and particularly West Wales will be seeing plenty of quite warm sunshine, I fully expect to reach 60f by next Friday! The clue to the lack of cloud is the nightly frosts predicted by GFS, and the fact that that model usually under cooks maxima.

Easily the mildest day of the year, 13c reached, but with a strong southerly gusting 37mph.

After a lovely, very mild and sunny week it has now turned cool and cloudy (7c).

Last night fell to -3.6c and was the coldest night since November (-7c).

It's been a beautiful week here.  The contrast after such a long period of wet and windy weather certainly helped me to appreciate it more (a bit like last July after the preceding few summers)!  It would be good if it could continue for another couple of weeks - but on the other hand, it would also be nice to get some seasonal cold weather before the clocks change and we head towards late spring and summer.

From warmth to cold in a week! EURO4 has wintry showers for South and Central parts of Wales for Saturday morning (hail likely for lower ground turning to snow further up +350m):
