This is no doubt a daft question but why, when I copy and paste something from a website that automatically attaches a link to the site it pastes okay but is invisible until I actually post it?

It's something which some websites use to automatically add a link when people copy and paste off of their sites. You should be crediting sources anyway, and ensuring you have permission to re-produce any content anyway though.

I always credit sources and am familiar with © regs. I realise some sites do it automatically and I don't have any issues with that but I just wondered why the paste was invisible until posted.

Without looking in to how it's coded into websites I couldn't tell you tbh - it's not something we control though.
