The last Met Office warnings update was Sunday morning, Still waiting on the new updates, Interestings to see what they'll make of Wednesdays incoming storm! The track of the storm hasn't been nailed yet and could change... Wouldn't like to be in there shoes atm.

Todays and tomorrows is updated but not Weds..... Maybe in short whilePosted Image

Now updated........A vigorous area of low pressure is expected to move northeastwards across the UK later on Wednesday, clearing eastwards early on Thursday. This is likely to be accompanied by a swathe of gales across many parts of England and Wales which may be severe in places.  The public should be aware of the the risk of disruption to transport and possibly also power supplies.

But also regarding the track of the storm,.....At present computer models are suggesting a variety of possible tracks for this system across the UK. Therefore there remains uncertainty regarding its exact track and hence the areas more likely to be affected by the worst of the winds. However, it looks as if gusts of 60-70 mph are likely with perhaps over 80 mph in exposed areas.

Wrexham town centre is between 70-100m according to Streetmap, I'm at 90m here.

It should be rain/sleet in wrexham, but I suppose its further north, oswestry seems to get more snow aswell, well it didn`t last long here it turned to light sleet and rain,a good snowcover over the stipperstones, still some there now,and Kerry hills to the south it was white.

Its been a nice afternoon with light winds all day and some sun.

Looks like sub -4 850hPa temp's might actually cover the region tomorrow for the first time this winter!!! with a westerly wind however I doubt there will be much around in terms of wintry showers.

Surprisingly chilly today with a high of 4.2c, apparently the trademark Telford sleetfest in this morning's shower's but was in the good old windowless office so cannot confirm.

That is a very worrying projected path across the UK, not looking forward to the resulting gales/rain on already sodden ground.

Temperature dropping here, 2.3oC currently, clear skies, stars are out.

Wednesday's storm definitely looks like the strongest of the winter thus far, first time XC weather has progged gusts over 60mph here.

Lovely ECM tonight with a settled sunny days, frosty night's setup, UKMO also decent, meanwhile GFS says no.

Its a nasty situation for the midlands on Wednesday and anyone from the M4 Northwards towards the Manchester area better look out as some of the strongest winds for many years look to ensue some very disruptive weather ,firstly from winds then rain.We are looking in the midlands for some of the strongest winds since January 1990  and January 1976......Posted Image

Was clear but is trying to cloud over, dry since midday. Still puzzled by how it failed to snow across the western Midlands/Cheshire this morning when it was below zero and it managed it in Wrexham, but that's this winter for you.

Hopefully another chance tomorrow, just one morning of lying snow would do now...

Not fun being on an exposed west-facing hill if that comes to pass...

Temperature 2.5oC, dewpoint 1.2oC. Light breeze, a few low clouds drifting overhead but very chilly outside.

Today's snow towards Oswestry and border country.http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2014/02/10/heavy-snow-falls-in-oswestry/sandford-avenue-church-stretton-by-stephen-mills/Saw a good few flakes myself this morning, not quite as much as the above.

That's not Sandford Avenue up there, it's the top of the lane that carries on through Caradoc/Hazler Hill and eventually carries on towards Wenlock... About a mile past and 150m higher than the top of Sandford Avenue, close to 300m asl

Evening all. So it seems we in The Midlands are shortly to experience our most potent winds from this truly different winter, and possibly of the century (sounds strange when you put it like that!)

I think we can expect some subtle changes in track and intensity in the models through Tuesday, but I suspect the Met Office press release of the 'most likely track' won't be far wide of the mark.

Localised conditions could be quite severe through Wednesday evening and the risk of general disruption is apparent

Just popped outside to move my car from the road onto our driveway, and found quite a hard frost had already formed, to the extent that it took a few minutes to fully de-ice my car.

Currently 0.5c with a DP of -0.1c

Good halo visible round the moon- a sign of something on the way? Seems to have warmed up in last couple of hours, frost that started to form has largely gone.

That's ice crystals high in the atmosphere, the moonlight's refracting off them, causing the halo, so likely cirrostratus clouds up there, ahead of the approaching rain. Very pretty sight, though. No frost here, 2.4oC.

Barely even any rain here, as always with evaporative cooling events when we actually need the heavy precipitation it fizzles into drizzle

We just don't seem to be winning this Winter with regards to wintry precipitation. (edit: unless I suppose you're at the top of the Derbryshire peaks or something). Nothing can wipe out those blasted snow shields!

The Met Office West Midlands forcast goes for a chance of some possible low level snow during the early hours of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, although wouldn't be terribly surprised if we get 'snowballed' with sudden downgrades. Still, you never know (and it could be a nice surprise for the snow fans should the Met Office be correct).

When it comes to that storm, we may just find ourselves getting blown towards Neptune or something... Does look (kinda) scary.
