I am keeping my eye only on Wednesday next week as that looks to be the only time that us down south will have anything noteworthy wind wise.

Been a bit dissapointing today really, highest gust of 37mph and has been between 25mph to 35mph all day. Nothing compared to the winds we had in October and December.

Been pretty windy here the last few hours, certainly enough to blow things around if they're not tied down. Had some wet snow this morning, but later it's been raining on and off. Very unpleasant! Currently 4.0oC.

Quite an impressive average 26 mph which is F6 unless my memory is going ga ga but only gusting 46 mph at most so not a storm here just a breezy day.

Winds veering SW'ly with mean speeds 40-43mph and gusting 60-65mph, howling down the chimney. Tipping it down with rain as well.

ECM continues to deepen the low at day 5 more than GFS/UKMO. One to watch this one, could bring large amounts of rain due to its source and could bomb as well

UKMO and GFS at same time for comparison

Another storm following at at day 7

The 72hr fax from the met office matches this. Certainly one to watch in the SW of England with regard to rainfall potential now

And mostly the wind too, storm force in the south...

Yes, further worrying amounts of rainfall, NMM rainfall at day 4. We'll have clearer picture on developments for Wednesday at the beginning of next week. Not looking good.

A very dire situation already looks set to get even worse over the coming days. Going to need Noah's ark at this rate!

Currently places across England and Wales are reporting 40 to 50mph gusts and earlier today we saw 80 to just over 90mph gusts around the Western coasts.

What's left of this storm is now tracking over Southern Scotland giving off the windy weather to the Southern half of the UK but the low currently is weakening and the winds over the next few hours will begin to drop.

Looking ahead at next week the Atlantic is extremely annoyed at the moment so it has a lot of wet and windy weather in store firstly Monday morning for a short time mean speeds over the West side of the UK and Ireland could reach over 40mph in some places giving a risk of gusts around 65mph.

What's next? Another storm will make it's presence felt on Tuesday evening at 6pm the SW of England see's mean speeds over 55mph and gusts over 75mph,

post-6686-0-09231600-1391285079_thumb.pn

By 12am Wednesday strong winds sweep into England, Wales and Ireland bringing mean speeds of 40 to 50mph and gusts over 65mph,

6am Wednesday mean speeds over 55mph head into Ireland and the SW of England and Wales,

For the rest of the day the storm moves inland and looks to bring high gusts as well it looks stronger than today's storm so we could expect higher gusts. This is still a few days away yet so it could still change but at the moment it does look concerning.
