A very dry month once again with just 34.3mm Most of this fell over four days as well. The year is now up to 579.3mm. Now well behind the wettest year ever which was 684.1mm at the same stage. So big change from last months where we were ahead despite being a very dry month

10 days into the month and we're on 68.8mm of rain so far, which is 114% of the monthly average. There's more to come in the next few hours, so today's total will be interesting. Already 35.2mm since 00:00.

162mm for August which is 130% of average. Year so far: 1,432mm, 77% of the annual average.

If rest of year is average we will get 2,242mm which will be the wettest year I've recorded and will challenge 2000 for the wettest year on record here. I think we had around 2,300mm then looking at local records.

Currently well above 2012 on the cumulative graph although the gap is narrowing.

August back to wet with 92.6mm making a total of 671.9mm so far The wettest year at the same point was 780.1mm.  August would have been a lot wetter if we hadn't missed out on a lot of storms.

A rather wet 143.3mm (130% LTA) at Llanwnnen, thats 1031.9mm the year to date

At Rugby, my parents measured 86.7mm (115% LTA), and 549.2mm 2014 so far.

A COL at Ebbw Vale station recorded 2169mm in 2000 Bobby, lower down than you though at 210masl.

With just 1.2 mm of rain so far this month it's looking likely that the first half of September will be the driest on record here ( since 1977 ). The previous driest first half was 3.8 mm in 1996.

Aye, Tony, looking at the latest model output it's just about conceivable that September 2014 could rival September 1986 as the driest month on record here.

Perhaps a bit premature to start talking of such things with half the month still to go but the models do seem to consistently push back any sort of breakdown with one area of high pressure taking over from another ad infinitum.

September 1986 recorded 8.2 mm and was the driest month since September 1959 when several local stations recorded between 0.5mm and 2mm. It must be something about Septembers!

5.5mm this month so far. 7 days without any rain. Some forecast for tomorrow though. 1959 the driest here with 1mm so no new record possible. :)

A measly 1mm here so far, 0.6% of average. Might challenge April 2007 which had 13mm as the direst month I've recorded.

Met Office records show East Anglia averaged just 1mm in April 2007, crazy.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries/2007/april/regional-values

We had 0.5mm in April 2011. Very nearly a totally dry month.

So far - we have 5mm this month.

1.5mm over 2days. 2nd 0.6mm   and  0.9 mm the 3rd of this month. That was due to mist being blown about and drifting... Nor proper rain..

Good chance of a top 5 finish should think, most spots are currently below 10mm:

http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/CURR.html

Here, still part of an exclusive club on no rain so far this month (well a trace), along with Trawsgoed up the road!

If we stay on zero the 9 year September average will take a 10mm hit down to 86mm!

My previous driest month too being April 2007 with 14.4mm.

A comparably wet 13.4mm here so far this month, so only the driest since September 1997 if it were to stay like that until the end of the month.

Dry Septembers have been extremely common since then though, 6 have seen below 50% and only three have been wetter than average since 2002.
