Coast, what do you make of the convective and thunder possibility for the South Coast tomorrow? Looks pretty decent to me

I reckon this be semi elevatedish, and good chance of hail

Looks like most western areas could do alright tomorrow. Convection looks possible along any west facing coasts anywhere from Cumbria south.

Some very heavy convective stuff to the SW moving quickly NE, some strikes detected from it.

Oddly enough around this time last year I actually managed to get a few flashes of lightning from a thundery shower! Then for me personally, the convective season of 2013 went to pot from there Posted Image

Same here, had our storms in January, nowt for the rest of the year... until December. We had some epic storms in May 2010 but honestly can't remember the last proper summer thunderstorm, 2006 I think. Odd... or just unlucky.

Looks to be a nasty line of storms in the SW at the moment.

Huge sounding storm coming in from the South West. Lightening out to sea :D

That storm is still going well inland, quite something for January!

Amazing persistence of that storm in mid January! Been the most thundery wintry months for many years surely?

Big thunderstorm here. Bright flashes of lightning and huge loud rumbles of thunder. Hailstones covering everything. Crazy! Posted Image

Second thundershower of the day here, forked lightning, 60mph gusts combined with hail and torrential rain, it was a whiteout

First thunderstorm of 2014, and it's only 3rd January. Great start!!

Powerful rain and wind and cracking thunder and lightning.

It's a great day for people down south with a proper rash of hailstorms tracking eastwards.

There was talk of more later on the estofex forecast, hopefully further north this time.

omg, the cell that just passed over me was intense. The hail was absolutely torrential - never seen anything as heavy as that before. Lightning and Loud thunder also. Looks to be moving east, very dark with rainbow out back and sun coming out to the west

Has anyone seen the storms on the near Continent, from the same area that crossed S. England earlier. They are huge!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
