What will the weather be like on Christmas day this year?

The GFS has churned out its first charts for the big day today at the extreme range of +384 hrs,so

just for fun and taking the 12z chart at face value over the coming two weeks,we will see....Posted Image

So then, the 12z gfs chart for christmas day at 384 hrs..

Nothing very festive about that chart!  A strong west/south westerly wind across the country

and pretty mild to go with it with some wet weather in the North-west.

Hopefully better tomorrow.Posted Image

Today's chart from the gfs 12z at T336 hrs...

A very unsettled christmas day with rain or showers in many areas

and gales in the north with no better than average temperatures.

Festive Fun Factor = 3.5/10 due to cooler temps and jet stream heading south.

Down to 288 hrs now....

Still a very unsettled Christmas day showing on today's 12z gfs,but much colder

with a strong westery wind across much of the UK with any showers likely to have

a wintry flavour to them.

T240 hours and counting....

Quite a difference in the chart for christmas day today from the 12z gfs, with high

pressure having more of an influence although still unsettled in the north, otherwise

breezy with temperatures into double figures for many.

Festive Fun Factor = 0/10

Today's update now a 216 hrs...

Very much back to a cold and unsettled looking christmas day on today's chart, with

the coldest weather over Scotland with lying snow likely here, although milder and wetter

for Southern and South-Western areas as a LP moves in.

Festive Fun Factor = 7/10Posted Image

Only a week to go until the big day now...168hrs..

The theme is pretty much the same on today's update, with a chilly and unsettled christmas day

although actually quite a benign picture compared to the two days either side of it!

Should be able to give some more detail from tomorrow when we get to the 6 day range.

A cold and unsettled christmas day across much of the UK,especially so in parts of Scotland where a white christmas is a distinct possibilityPosted Image

Some potent showers around Southern and Western coasts also with some of these

perhaps containing hail and thunder.
