Thanks again to Ali, for help in setting this special thread up.

Above is an up to date list of entrants so far. The official start of the Snow Depth Cup is Sunday 1st December but with no snow likely for a few days after that date, at least, I'm sure Chris (Mantle) and I can afford to be flexible with any member wanting to enter after that date.

Just a few words regarding the rules of the competition.

During the first part of Winter, probably up to the end of January, entrants will be asked to measure the depth of their snowfall after each snow event, measurements should be in centimetres and at a time designated by myself and Chris, with a view to being as fair as possible to entrants throughout the region. Those members who have entered in the North Thames region should log their depths with Chris and those in the South Thames region, log their depths with me.

Each entrants individual snowfall depths will be added together to give a final accumulated figure. The 2 members with the deepest accumulated depth by the end of January, in each of the 8 groups (although we may have to be flexible with the cut-off date, depending on how much snow we have), will progress into a further group format, explained below, for the remainder of the Winter and possibly extending into March, again depending on how much snow we've had.

The winners of those 2 groups will then meet in a Grand Final, to decide the overall winner of the South East Region.

See format below:

North Thames region comprising of Groups 1,2,3 & 4, split alphabetically.

South Thames region comprising of Groups 1,2,3 & 4 split alphabetically.

Top 2 from each group going forward to form 2 Groups of 8, as follows:

Group A: N.Thames. Gr.1 1st & 2nd, Gr.2 1st & 2nd. S.Thames Gr.3 1st & 2nd, Gr.4 1st & 2nd.

Group B: S.Thames. Gr.1 1st & 2nd, Gr.2 1st & 2nd. N.Thames Gr.3 1st & 2nd, Gr.4 1st & 2nd.

Grand Final : Winner Group A v. Winner  Group B.

Regards,

Tom.

My thanks also for setting up this dedicated thread which  allows us to run the competition away from the main region thread.

I have now created two Excel workbooks which will hold all the information and produce the results as pdf files which load up to my web site.  Both files are the same showing the groups you have been placed into with a final sheet showing all the forum members taking part and just for fun I have added some recordings to show the league table working in the groups.

The links to the pdf files are as follows and will stay the same all winter:

North Region

South Region

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/chris.mantle/NetweatherSEsnowdepth/pdf/South%20Thames.pdf

The Adobe reader can be downloaded for free here, if you don't want the virus checking software make sure you uncheck the box before downloading the software

Many thanks to the netweather team for allowing me to use their logo in the results table and Ali (MKSA) for her help,

All I can say is LET IT SNOW and may the best forum member win.Posted Image

The winner could well be 0.1mm this year!

I expect you may have said the same this time last year too, be patient.

Well Ali,

I did ask snowbob to leave me a brown envelope behind the ticket machine on the Croydon bound platform at Addington Village Tram stop, he could have included his 0.5 cm hail depth then. Got soaked to the skin looking for it tonight, to boot! Couldnt find anything. Pfft! So no wonga, no hail, sorry sb!

Hi Katie,

I'm sure that won't be a problem as no snow in sight at the moment, Tom I will let you decide which group/sub group and update the spreadsheets.

Hi Katie,

That's no problem, looks like North Thames, Group 2, just above your host Chris.

I'll change the list on here Chris.

Regards,

Tom.
