So is Snowmageddon happening? Ian mentioned on his twitter that anything that did fall would come to nothing.

Considering it's still autumn, I'd be happy if I got to see some snow falling at some stage next week, I might even take a quick drive up on the mendips to improve my chances.

Why does that chart return us to double figure temps at the end of November GTLTW?

I was thinking the same thing awd..

All is well this evening in the mod thread I wonder if it will be same mood later this evening as I view thread from my drunken stooped position in a bar somewhere near to you,  well Bristol Posted Image

I'm not surprised that the high ground (Mullender's Mendips) are milder than the lower ground (AWD's Bristol) as today's weather has been very inversion like and once it turned quickly dull after a frosty start the temps weren't ever going to climb far. What I wasn't expecting was persistent drizzle from around midday.

Latest Met Office forecast for SW England for early next week;

"Outbreaks of rain clearing southwards during Monday. Becoming colder thereafter with sunshine and wintry showers, and snow over the Moors. Wet on Wednesday with further snow possible on high ground."

That should please Mullender & the Beast at the vey least! :)

Not that I think it will and I guess its based on the GFS 12z output which potentially warmed up in the low-res. The focus has to be on the reliable and that will be cold all the way, i.e. the next six days.

The first forecast for snow for Bristol from the Met Office this season;

post-12721-0-16182500-1384640343_thumb.j

It will be gone soon so make the most of it. However likely/unlikely it is to verify, it sure brought a smile to my face! :)

+96 FAX chart showing a potential transient snow event for Wednesday morning:

Would certainly be cold enough for snow to begin with looking at that. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Was always the updated one for me, strange!

It's certainly a marginal one. Further east and higher up could see some fun and games, that 528 line is lingering for a lot of the passage of the front.

Might just be me mate seeing things. Been a long day. lol.120 FAX is a good'un for our region, 528DAM back SW and trough cut through ridge. Could get some back end snowfall off that!

Any snow this week looks very unlikely, now. Though, things can change. So, it's best to wait until Tuesday before there are any decisions made.
