Was driving through some of the thickest fog I can remember, I couldn't see the cats eyes on either side nor could I see 5 - 10 metres in front of me. Reminded me a lot of the smogs in London my dad always told me about. Cars had to follow me for a few miles doing 40mph on a dual carriageway it was that bad. My advice would be to drive safely tonight, in some places it's almost blind.

SOUTH OF THE M4 CORRIDOR?!! We never see South, always bloody North! Yay! I am getting a bit excited again now, I was all about Spring/Summer after Tuesday's little tease but one last blast wud be fun - as long as it promises to go back to Spring the following week!x

Signs are that it may turn less cold next weekend as the Atlantic tries to breakdown the cold air from the SW, but don't think it will be spring-like like earlier this week, more like cool, wet and windy.

Wrt, Monday-Tuesday, HIRLAM keeps precip offshore, so need to remain cautious still, but even these charts show potential for snow showers across the SE:

http://www.aemet.es/...pc2=sup&opc3=pr

So confident many will see some snow, but amounts could vary quite widely over the SE.

Yes,

Sorry Lottie, you'll have to sit and twiddle your thumbs and wait for a few thunderstorms, I think!

Regards,

Tom.

Even without dynamic snowfall, Nick, those Hirlam precip charts are excellent for the majority of the SE!

It made things pleasant but it's far too early to think of Spring, to most peoples minds, Spring doesn't start until the 21st anyway :)

Some good summaries of the prospects this evening. I think we can be encouraged by the ECM ppn predictions which lend more support to the GFS. Lets see if we can get just a fraction further northward movement and then we can all share the fun. On the other hand, we don't want to see any trend back south otherwise we will need to hire a large SE regional vessel to see accumulating snowsmile.png

I would volunteer to row if it wasn't for the strong easterly winds - may get pushed out into the Atlantic. Building a snowman on a boat must be fun!

'elucidate' - that must be word of the day!clap.gif Wonder if the METO ever would use it in their public text and/or spoken bulletinsacute.gif

Going to show my age this time (rather than yours), elucidate used to be the favourite word of O & A level examiners when I was at school, particularly in History and Economics papers I seem to recallsmile.png

Yes, not all's lost if France hogs the dynamic snow perhaps.

As I mentioned in MOD, nor'easter on Monday touching gale force towards south coast and with temps struggling to get above 0C, wind chill will be exceptional - looking at -6 to -8C?

not going to comment on this

not warm though

more on this tomorrow

Why not comment on it though John? There are many of us that don't actually understand the charts, and would welcome some explanation.
