UK Outlook for Sunday 26 May 2013 to Sunday 9 Jun 2013:

Indications are that conditions are likely to still be quite unsettled at the start of the period, especially in the north, however it is set to gradually turn more settled. There will be rain and showers at times, with much of the UK likely to see around average rainfall amounts, however there will probably be a good deal of dry and bright weather as well, particularly later in the period. Temperatures are likely to remain cooler than average across the UK, although they should become closer to average later in the period. Given the time of year, with any prolonged sunshine it will feel pleasantly warm, especially away from the coasts.

Just think if it turns more settled towards the end of the period as per the forecast above that would give the UK 2 successive settled bank holidays thats almost unheard of in this country

UK Outlook for Friday 17 May 2013 to Sunday 26 May 2013:

Generally unsettled conditions look set to continue for much of the country, with showers or longer spells of rain. Into the first weekend there is a risk of more prolonged and at times heavy rainfall in the south and east, while the best of the brighter and drier spells will be in the north and west. Thereafter it will remain unsettled in all areas with further showers or longer spells of rain, but also some drier and brighter interludes in between. Temperatures are likely to be cooler than average at first, with a risk of ground frosts in northern rural areas, but nearer normal towards the end of May. There are signs of a gradual improvement towards the end of this period, especially in the south.

Generally unsettled across most parts at first, with showers or longer spells of rain. Rain will likely be more persistent and heaviest towards the northwest, and heavy showers may also affect eastern areas at times. Best of the drier and brighter spells most likely in the south and west. Temperatures rather cool for May, but nearer normal in any brightness. Through the weekend, there will probably be more in the way of dry, but rather cloudy and cool conditions, with some clear or sunny interludes likely too. UK Outlook for Friday 24 May 2013 to Sunday 2 Jun 2013:

Generally an east-west split is likely for the bank holiday weekend and into the new week, with the driest and brightest weather in the west together with a few showers, and the more unsettled conditions occurring further east and southeast. Some heavy rain is possible at times here, whilst more southwestern and western parts of the UK should fare better with more in the way of drier and brighter weather. It will also be quite windy at times, especially in the east with a risk of gales in more exposed areas. Temperatures will be below normal across the country, but towards the end of May the more unsettled weather is likely to shift to the northwest of the UK, with temperatures returning to nearer normal for the start of June.

UK Outlook for Monday 3 Jun 2013 to Monday 17 Jun 2013:

There are signals that conditions should begin to settle down into June, becoming drier than normal for many areas, especially across the north and west with the influence of high pressure extending from the Azores. Temperatures should also return to normal for early June, so feeling pleasantly warm in the sunshine, but currently no signal for heatwave conditions, and feeling cooler around coastal areas where sea breezes develop. Variable amounts of cloud are likely around the country at times, but also interspersed with sunnier conditions. Some showers are still possible through the period, especially in the south and east.

That very much suggests High pressure ridging extending from the Azores into the NE atlantic and pressure remaining lower close by on the nearby continent and winds between NW and NE.  A slightly more modified and settled version of what we have at this time - at least for a while anyway

Yes looks like it Tamara-not a bad outlook at all.No great heat promised yet but acceptable for many outdoor activities i should think.Should give us a lot of dry and fine conditions.

The key is lower Polar heights so far as we enter Summer with mid-latitude highs -always a chance of some decent spells from that pattern.

The newspapers are trying to put negative spin on the met office and deliberately sensationalizing anything that is either unsettled or cold. Feel like not buying the daily star or any paper for that matter as its a load of tosh really.

The Daily Star is a comic! If it isn't spin on the weather, it's who is in the Big Brother House or focus on Michelle Keegan's mammary glands.

UK Outlook for Saturday 25 May 2013 to Monday 3 Jun 2013:

Through the Bank Holiday weekend an east-west split is likely to develop, which looks to continue through much of this period. The most settled conditions will be in the west, together with a few showers, best of the drier, brighter weather in the southwest. In the east, more unsettled conditions with sunshine and sharp showers, with some heavy rain possible at times. It will be windy at times, especially in the east with a risk of gales in more exposed areas and a chance of mountain snow for northern Scotland. Temperatures will be below average across the country, but towards the end of May the more unsettled weather is likely to shift to the northwest of the UK, with temperatures returning to nearer average for the start of June.
