Just went to check the lamp post outside my house, and the bloody thing is broken! How am I supposed to feed my obsession now?! I really had hoped to get stuff done today, but at the slightest mention of snow within 100 miles of my door I downed tools and have been glued to this forum.

Must get out more.

That made me laugh so much! I down tools at the very mention of snow too! Been sat on my ass for the last 3 hours - not even had a cuppa!

Here's a little animation I made of the hi-res EC (which is superb btw) for tonight. First image 1800, then 2100 then 0000-

I'm going for snowiest over Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire/W London, whilst moving slowly NEwards, many pulses in the flow meaning that some intense precip could be maintained for many near the south. Sussex, London and the western parts of Essex and Kent should also do well.

And would that be in blizzard conditions?!

Heavy intense snow, probably at peak about 12 on the Murr scale

It's changing here, now wet huge flakes again, it is covering the roads, not sure it is accumulating though. A dusting so far that is probably melting and then getting covered again

How long is the ppn supposed to last ? Still snowing here, temp is 1.1 dewpoint is 0.0

I'd say probably start to clear 8-9pm for your location, the band is not moving very fast and seems to back-building a little over the Channel.

To those of us in north London:

Gfs and nmm show the precip s and se of croyden moving due north and sitting over us before being dragged west.

If nae is correct that precip will never make it across the Thames and will get dragged west anytime now.

So keep an eye on it, if it shows signs of less progress north, then prob game over for us but if it continues to move up then nmm/gfs might yet prove to be correct.

Godamnit, who's dumb idea was it to cook a roast??!!? All my windows keep steaming up and I'm rushing backwards and forwards between wiping them with a cloth to watch the snow and checking on the roast veggies!

I tweeted the met office, telling them the rain was actually wet snow in brighton - they advised most likely sleet turning to rain later

edit: I don't believe them!

Do the right thing and kick it a little further down the coast please Coast good.gif

I'll try - it's reasonably heavy here with a lot more to come on the radar, but will it turn back to sleet and rain or continue on as wet snow? unknw.gif

A27 Falmer has been reported as treacherous. http://www.theargus....ex_snow__day_5/

Whoops! Looks like fun getting home tonight then....
