Well, The Meto image posted earlier with that area of upto 25cm, it was centered on a line from say Leeds down to Sheffield and we are close the edge of the area so, you might not get 25cm but you can't totally rule out 5cm :). No matter what we should be under the ppn, even if its the lighter side.

I admire your optimism ha.

Just dipped into the s/e thread - having a right snowfest there. Maybe our day will come. Maybe the snow will reach the southern flank of the Penines, turn left in the wind and fill the entire NW with wintriness. I'm living on FI now. Having said all that good luck to everyone on the eastern flanks of the region.

You guys on the Western Pennines certainly have the best chance. If I was at your location I would certainly be a bit more optimistic. I doubt areas to the West of Manchester will see any decent amounts. Hope I'm wrong.

Am i east of the penines..yes i am thick.

You're East of the region which has the best chance of seeing an accumulation.

Unbelievable that the south east get more than me every winter and I'm about 350 miles north of London.

The radar looks strange now, the area of precipitation seems to be bowing in the middle.

Snow fans in north Nottinghamshire and Nottingham must be tearing their hair out, it hasn't got any closer them all daylight hours!

ha ha yeah it's like for me on Friday. I noticed that too.

It must be the Foehn effect. As a consequence of the different adiabatic lapse rates of moist and dry air, the air on the leeward slopes becomes warmer than equivalent elevations on the windward slopes. Winds of this type are called "snow-eaters" for their ability to make snow melt or sublimate rapidly.

No mate your west,

You'll need to emigrate to Yorkshire to become east.

Or in other words, another reason why the decent weather always misses us.
